What do you guys think?

YearOne's newest crate engine offering is now ready to ship. The 440 big block engine provides fantastic horsepower and torque. It utilizes a seasoned block and has good idle qualities that allow 14hg inches of vacuum at 800RPM--perfect for power brakes. Using high tensile strength fasteners throughout, each engine is internally balanced and comes with a 12month/12,000 mile warranty. It includes the harmonic balancer and is designed for use with an automatic or manual transmission. Every engine is dyno tested and comes with it's own printed dyno run sheet. All engines are supplied with a dual-plane aluminum intake, chrome valve covers, chrome timing cover and oil pan.

I think pretty weak at 420 horsepower from a 440. Doesn't look like they put too much effort into it for me. I don't even think they should advertise it at 420 horsepower when it is capable of far more. Just my .02.

i like it if your tryin to get your charger to factory spec and back out on the road.  good price and decent numbers

I thought 440's had around 495 ft/lbs torque

Regardless or the hp or the quality,  I think by virtue of it being sold by year one that it's probably about 20-30% more than what you would pay for the same exact thing somewhere else.  Not to menion their usually horrendous shipping charges.

For me, If I am going to buy a crate motor, I would want one with a new block.  If you are going used, nothing wrong with that,  get it done locally, probably would cost less.  you might be able to duplicate that motor with a better cam and eddy heads for close to that price if you are frugal.

So "seasoned block" is a fancy way of saying rebuilt?
Still looking for 15x7 Appliance slotted mags.....

seasoned block means it was used before and seasoned block is usually preferred when doing custom engines.

you could probably have one rebuilt at a local reputable engine shop to around those specs for the same price. and for some reason I guess I wouldnt trust a engine from year one. and if they charge as much as they do for shipping a small part, imagine the shipping for a engine!  :o :o :o
