How much does an 833 4-speed weigh? I am trying to estimate shipping costs.

Or..maybe someone knows a ballpark figure for shipping a 4-speed a couple of states over. :scratchchin:

I'd say they weigh about 130 to 150 lbs, depending on which one exactly you are shipping (18-spline, 23-spline or an O.D.).  If I recall 150 lbs is what the label on the crate said.  I had an 18-spline  A-833 (near 150 lbs) shipped from Ohio to Alaska.

$330 total shipping costs including a few other items, this was two years ago.  I'll bet it's going to be cheeper for you

Call R+L Carriers or check there website www.rlcarriers.com i guarantee they will be the  quickest and cheapest by far. I have shipped several big items including a few transmission with no problems.

The 2 I shipped were 157 to 165 lbs, and that included a rediculously over-engineered crate in the total.

Cost $175 to $200 for 800-1000 mile trips for shipping via Roadway, with me dropping off at their terminal, and receiver picking up at local terminal nearest them.

*Speed costs money son, how fast do you want to go, and for how long?"
*"Build the biggest engine you can afford the first time."
*"We normally wouldn't use a 383 for this build, parts and labor for a 440 cost the same."

When I used to ship them they were 135 lb/23 spline--145 lb/18 spline including the crating I made and I sent them UPS. Only had 1 get damaged out of hundred's that I shipped. It was about $100 from say Florida to Nevada but this was a few years ago, good luck.
