318 K-member: do they only work with a 318?

I was alway under the impression that the 318 K-members would only work with a 318 (and possibly the /6) but here lately I've heard a couple guys say that the 318 K-member will also work with a big block. Is this true?

not always there PT. on a 73-74 charger a 318 k frame is abit different and if you put a big block in it it will chew up the ujoints in a rapid manner. Dont ask how I know.

but the earlier cars without the spool type mounts, i think all you need is the correct sandwich style mount to bolt whatever engine into place.

I agree , up to 72 the V8 K is the same , except for the lack of skid plate
