So I saw an old Cuda today with a For sale sign, the guy was asking 20 something  for it, nothing THAT special, 73-74 Cuda, 360 auto, I couldn't speak with him too long cause the kids needed to go yunno.... :flush:

Anyways, he told me it was fresh of restoration and he had put alot of dollar in it,

So ok, resto its good if the car is all clean, he pop the hood  :eek2: ....Yellow car but with an flat black "spay can look'' engine bay
Silver painted American racing wheel......

I ask him nicely, with he didn't go yellow, he told me, "I 've done a little research and they came like that"  :scratchchin:, I said umhhh right.... :ahum: (GM wannabe)

I didn't bother much since I needed to go now.

Isn't a bad sign when you see go see a Charger or any other Mopar and see a black treatment under the hood after the owner tell its been restored??? :scratchchin: :scratchchin: :brickwall:

Hey some people just prefer it that way...  My cars going to be yellow too but I will have yellow under the hood as well.  Lots of people have told me to paint under the hood black to make the chrome on the motor stand out, etc...  Its not my thing but if it was I would do it, I dont really care how my car came from the factory because I am building it the way I would have wanted it built in the first place.   :2thumbs:

the guy who did our car was trying to get us to do the engine bay black too, maybe because our car is yellow and black, but I said no way

i'm gonna have my engine bay sprayed black, while the motor is out (99.999999% i'm gonna do the whole car black anyway?!?!?!?)  but...this way when the body giy gets his hands on it...he doesn't have to screw around  with  pulling the motor & mess up what my mechanic just fixed up all nice!!!!!! (doing a comp. orange block w/ black MOPAR PERF. air cleaner & vavlve covers!!! NICE!!!!!!!) either way the car is gonna be a dark color, so it's not like it would stick out like a yellow car w/ a black engine bay.

If it is modified, do it the way you like, but if you are trying to make it stock you gotta do under the hood thae sams as on top. just my opinion.

I guess it depends on whether you ever wanted to show the car.  Like most, I also have a negative opinion when I see black engine bays on Mopars....at that point,  you might as well do the trunk with gray speckle paint and get ready for the ugly remarks as people walk (...or run) past your car.  :eek2: :eek2: :eek2:   If you go to a Mopar only show, or if you ever plan to sell your car,  it's a negative resale value thing.  It doesn't cost that much more  to do the car correctly when the engine is out.  My   :Twocents: :Twocents:

All this goes out the winodw if its a pure race car (not a show car) ....then its okay.  :2thumbs:

hey,my engine bay is still black, and my trunk is speckel paint! its all i had at the time, and i will fix it when time is available, but you know how it is,when i have the time i dont have the cash, and vice versa!

I personally don't care if the engine bay is a different color, but if the brake booster and engine have any overspray I run away

Technically it can't be called " Restored" if the Engine Bay is Black. No unibody Mopar was Black unless the whole car was. Must be a GM guy.

technically about 95% of "restored" cars were not even restored. they were at best "freshened up" but usually just paint and interior.

I agree and also like to add the they are freshened up just for a flip and I really hate that, because they think they can hide all that is wrong with a can of spray paint.  They succeed in selling POS to people who's lifelong dream is to have a charger, myself included

Ghoste

My biggest beef would be that the guy claimed to have researched it and they all came that way.  What else is hiding and willing to lie about?

Dodge Don

People mis-use the word restored or restoration. The vast majority are not restored. And I include factory stock looking restification as restored for my purposes.

moparguy01

your right don, but to tell you the truth I've only seen MAYBE a dozen fully "restored" cars. and not one of them was worth less than a mill. most of these were Duesenbergs or auburns.
