I might be wrong but it looks like a GM trans to me.  :o  I do not need that. :rotz:

I helped E-booger put it into the Bold Beeper back in the fall.

Once again it's a case of I hope they got their sh8t together better for the production kits.    Things didn't go quite as planned but the trans is in the car.   Keisler got their ear chewed off for sending some wrong parts - once again it was a pre production kit.    All I can say is that it might take a whack or 2 with a BFH here or there underneath to clear  but nothing has to get cut.

Anyway it runs and the shift points are programmable like a newer GM car.   The converter locks up and it cruises at ridiculously low rpm on the highway - like about 1400 rpm  - partly attributable to the tall tires and 3.23 gears.    First gear is a 3.06 so it's entirely different than driving a 2.45 727 trans.

Rick hasn't broken it yet with the Barton stroker but it hasn't been to the track yet either.    I'm thinking the 8 3/4 will suffer next if he launches it with some sticky tires.    Frankly he's worried about it also - he's thinking dana lately.

So you buy a trans kit based on how much HP you think you can handle which can add up with a big stroker.   It gets expensive but so does anything else when you go big.     One unmentioned option was thought of was to buy a level 1 and send it out to a race trans builder and have them beef the phrig out of it... that way you'd have the parts to put in the kit easily and a bullet proof trans good for much more than the stock keisler ratings.   4l60's are running 9's with the right prep.

The usual deal here and on moparts is that people will have a problem putting a gm tranny in their mopar.  And they put in a gear vendors.    Whatever.   They also still think the 4l60 is the same weak stick 700r4 that they had in a 86 Camaro.    It's just another option for people to enjoy their car more.   If you gotta stay with a 727 and add a gv - do it.   Run a 727 and some 2.76 gears... yay.   Buy this thing?   sure...  whatever... nobody is paying me -  I just think that an OD trans helps people enjoy their car and get out on the highway more.   Putzing in the slow lane sucks.

Same old song. 99.9% of Keisler's issues seem to be caused by the fact that they can't figure out how to put the right part in the g*dd**n box. It's a shame, 'cause they make a great product.

Owning one of their 5 speeds, I can recommend them. Just don't go into a project thinking you wil open the boxes on Friday night and be on the road Sunday afternoon. Won't happen. Schedule at least an extra week to get all the proper components on hand.

I'm sure I'll see a few of them on the Power Tour next month. I hope to sweet talk someone into letting me take a stint behind the wheel with one.

Brian,
I just wanted to know if there is anymore feedback about the Keisler overdrive conversion. I know it's coming out of winter up there now but it's been a year and I would love to know how it's been doin'.

Phill.
