Pretty much what the subject title says..... Who from the board here is going to the Mopars @ E-town show May 19th and 20th?  I will be there and be in the stock class for 1969 Dodge B body if it is the same categorys as last year.  I will also have a color copy of the opening screen Dodgecharger.com logo with my screen name under it on my dash so everyone can easily identify me.   Feel free to stop in and say hi and shoot some BS about the car.   Hope to see everyone there and hope for nice weather.

Either way, if they judged by the way cars left the factory, yours should win every year. Not many around with a hole in the roof, that get driven across the country all year. And it's green, which I likey.

The special treat is not money or g/c's.  Basically because I am married and have a child.  Plus financing the charger is not that easy either.     Anyway, I am sure it is something that eveyone will like and will be readily welcomed especially on a warm day.  Again, no its not a cold beer even though that would certainly have been welcomed by many including me.  A little hint,  it comes in lots of colors......

Wrong and Wrong.  Close on the Gatorade though but it is also not fruit punch.  Also, this will depend on if it is raining or not since it will have to be done basically out of the back of my trunk. 

Seems like they are calling for mid 60s now.  This would have been better on days like yesterday and today with temps in the 80s.

Wow.  Let me just say that this weekend was filled with a lot of highs and lows.  The highs were I met up with a bunch of people from the board and it was good to put faces to the screen names.  JOHNTPR was nice enough to take me for a spin in his 440 4 spd daytona and then even let me get some miles on it behind the driver seat.  Let me say that was one sweet original ride.  John, here is one for you   I was also able to help MoparJohn pick up a correct fan shroud and radiator cap for his ride plus some other much needed pieces.

Hopefully everyone enjoyed the suprise I was able to do on Sunday since Sat was too rainy.  Seemed like lots of people enjoyed the snow cones as I had 10 different flavors.

The downside of the weekend was that it was typical E-town Mopar weather with rain and sun intermixed at times.  The show field was really bare on Sat hopefully cause of the weather and still had a lot of empty spaces on Sunday.  The vendors seemed to be down in attendance again this year.  This used to be a really nice show.  Hopefully the downward spiral does not continue and they can throw some new life into this show.

Seemed like if you showed up on Sat you got a trophy no matter what.  Sunday, I got a second place in the stock category only losing to Bill Mann (who had his sweet plum crazy 70 R/T there).  As for the light modified class, I could not stick around as I had to get back to my in laws cause my daughter was not feeling well all weekend and my wife wanted to get her back home to her normal surroundings. 

Congrats to all the winners on Sat and Sunday.

Where do I even begin on this? There are some major disappointments in life, like your first break up, losing your first goldfish, having your cat run over by the garbage truck, and so on. Then there's Mopars at E-town, a.k.a. the Mopar Atlantic Nats. Nats?? Really??

This very same show 15 years ago was the Mopar mecca of the Northeast, & has slowly crawled into the bowels of the E-town porta-potties. Aside from seeing all the great Mopar people I've come to meet over the past several years, including several members of this board, I can honestly say I was actually bored at a Mopar show.

The size of the show on Saturday was pathetic, I guess the pending rain had something to do with it. I packed the car up early due to the rain, hence forfeiting any shot at a trophy. That was totally fine by me, I'll forego the 20" tall plastic figurine if it saves me a week of cleaning rain fallout residue under my car. Another member here along with myself are invited to attend the Greenwich Concours de'Elegance on June 2nd, he wisely left his car home due to the bad weather.

Sunday was a little better, a few more cars, a few less swap meet vendors. Much better weather. Still got to talk to some great people. And, enjoyed a delicious, refreshing purple snow cone from resq302. (Hey so what, it matched my car....)

I have to agree with Bill & others, the show is defiantly going down hill.  I attribute a lot of it to the weather but other factors have ruined it as well...
I will support the show as long as its around though

Ok, ok, so the "snow cone suprise" wasn't a million dollars or jello shots like some people had thought.  Who knows.... maybe next year if the show is even still around.     All I know is that a bunch of people enjoyed it cause the heat was starting to get up there.

Bill, very well put.  Its a shame as I started coming down to this maybe 5 years or so ago and have seen it just go down hill since there.  Maybe all the show needs is some publicity instead of sending out the flyer a week before the pre-reg is due?  Maybe have some special people come by one day.  Something needs to be done cause I don't give this show more than 5 years before it is no show at all unless they make some changes and make them fast.  Granted, the LX cars were there and I have no fault with the next generation enjoying their cars like we do.  Lets face it.... can a young kid afford the price of our cars today?  I highly doubt it unless his dad is Donald Trump or someone like that.  The newer LX cars have the speed, handling, and lower price tags than our cars do (but our cars are still much more fun).  As long as people are still interested in cars, our hobby will strive.  Maybe when they get older, they will be able to afford cars that we have now.  The AACA has something called "Take a kid to a car show" which I think is a great way to introduce the younger generation to our cars and get them excited about the hobby like we are.  If interest is not spread and promoted, the hobby will unfortunately die.  Shame that they don't have a suggestion box and listen to what people suggest.

On a similar note, most of the people that came up to talk to me at my car that were working on their charger or in the process of looking for one, I asked if they knew about this site.  The majority of them were not aware that a "Charger site" actually was around.  Good news for here as that we will probably get more members and be able to help fellow car enthusiasts.

Sadly, I brought a digital camera only to take it out and try to take a photo with the thing not working.  It helps when you have a set of GOOD or fully charged batteries in it.    Oh well.   Better luck next year.  Looks like I will have to bring it again as it seemed to be such a good success.  Maybe two days of it next year if we get decent weather like this Sunday.

I have a bunch of pics that I will upload and post a link to.  I didn't get every car, but did get quite a few.  Here is my take on that show.....
I have never been up there before and I think my expectations were way too high because I ended up leaving at 1 PM.  I was expecting a couple hundred cars in the show, not even close.  The swap meet portion was ok, I picked up a few things I needed for the Charger.  What really annoyed me was the whole deal with the "Mopar Survivors".  No where on any paperwork that I saw did it say that class was for a certain little "click".  Some of you may have seen the 72 Fury under the tent with the other "survivors", that car is mine.  When I got there, they classed me in class 55 Unrestored.  No one told me anything about what that was about, I was under the impression that class was for any unrestored car.  Around 12:30 I got back over there to put some stuff in the trunk and this old lady starts giving me an attitude about the whole ordeal like I would know about their little "click".  Then she made the mistake of trying to differentiate what her perception of unrestored is.  Let's just say we didn't see eye to eye on that and it resulted in me getting pissed off and leaving even though I did bite my tongue big time.  I sincerely doubt I'll waste my time taking the Charger up there next year.  I think I'll stick to the Car B Q down here in my neck of the woods and maybe take a trip out the Nationals in Carlisle next year.
I did enjoy hanging out with Brian and MoparJohn though, and that fruit punch snow cone was awesome, hit the spot.

Nice pic of my car.  Thanks buddy.   I mainly go to this show not for the popularity of it but because it is fairly close to me and it gives me a chance to meet up with people that I only get a chance to talk to on the board here.   As for the survivors tent, yes there can be some "clicks" with them but I know the people with the black 70 Charger are down to earth people.  Don't let one bad apple spoil the rest of the show for you.  It was really good to see everyone again and that is the main reason why I will keep going.  Hopefully, they can turn the downward swing of this show around and get it back the type of show it used to be.

Now...... what can I do for next year......smoothie maker?  hot dog cart?  Gotta start thinking as E-town is only like 360 days away.
