I believe that white car is also a challenger  :RantExplode:

yes it is, and let me tell you, I cried for the cars when I got home but in the theater I was out of my seat!!!!  that was the most intense movie I have ever seen.  I had to sit all the way through the credits before I could get up.  I was actually shaking.  incredible.

Heres the best quality i have found of the 2nd part of the chase, at 5.21 does that scene look like DMCL or what?

:scratchchin:  I had that happen once...

If you look past the totalled '69 for a second, I think there was more to the Charger's death than meets the eye.  They set it up to look like the Charger flipped because it was hit by the Challenger, but was that all?

The Charger's death looks suspiciously "cannon roll" assisted to me.  I think they timed it perfectly so that an explosion (under the backseat area) would launch the left rear corner of the car upwards just as the Challenger rammed it there, making it look like the Challenger's hit is the only thing that flipped the Charger over.

In reality, the Challenger's hit alone would probably have never been enough to flip the Charger so dramatically.  It would probably have spun the Charger out after lifting that corner up for a moment, but it wouldn't have been enough to send the Charger all the way up & over like that.

I think there was some very wise & subtle stuntwork going on in the midst of all that crunched metal.

jasonfromIKILLYA

well yeah, but it was still a good movie.

yea they used a cannon, the 1 dp charer on ebay the owner of it mentioned he owned the cannon car as well, i liek the dp charger pretty sinister flat black car :icon_smile_big: i liek the hood ornament 2 :yesnod:

THE CHARGER PUNK

also there was more then 1 charger used, once its hit it rolls 2wards us but then somehow curves off to the other side of the road so maybe 2 chargers used there, then when they pull him out of car its missing ts door and back wheel, but when it rolls to stop after it gets hit it has all 4 wheels and door still intact :yesnod:

I've seen the whole chase scene on Youtube, not real impressed, They built how many cars for that movie? Destroyed that many, and it is still not very good, just a waste of good metal.

Dirty Mary Crazy Larry was a MUCH better chase, and they only used 3 cars.

What tarentino needed is a GOOD stunt coordinator!

Mike DC

I thought the stunt co-ordinator was good but the creative planning on the chase was a little weak.
The chase would have been acceptable (probably even well-remembered) if it had been done in the 70s, but modern audeinces expect more.

I guess that's exactly what was wrong with the whole movie.  It was a little TOO MUCH like the crap it was imitating.  We've learned to expect better even in our "throwback" movies.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hollywood uses too many cars therse days because it's a symptom of the whole industry's bloating operations.  They literally can't make an Adam Sandler fart-joke movie for less than $30 million dollars anymore.

The more money they plan to spend, the more extra they start spending just to be sure of the results (like multiple backup cars).
It's a vicious cycle.

JimShine

There is alot more than meets the eye.

The roll damage was replicated on a couple Chargers and the one that sold on eBay was not even the one used for the bulk of what we saw! Why would the roll damage be replicated when the car stops its roll and doesn't ever move again? Lots of footage hit the cutting room floor. There is no doubt about it!

You guys wouldn't believe the amount of work that went into making those hood ornaments work. The bases they made are quite impressive in themselves!

The movie was boring to me. The car chase was mediocre. This will never go down into history as being anything other than a neat retro car chase scene.

Lostsheep

The movie did drag but it was cool to see the Charger as a co-star, sucks they had to kill 'em.

Mike DC

Tarantino is falling victim to the same problem that ruins Steven Soderberg's stuff anymore.

I get the feeing they had a lot more fun making it than I'm having watching it.

jasonfromIKILLYA

man, maybe we're different generations or something, but I friggin loved this movie.  it was everything I wanted, hot chicks, violence, and mopars.
