Is it possible to find rear wheel studs that are 2" long instead of the 1 1/2" stock studs. This is for my 73 just in case 3rd gens are different than 2nd gens. I called the local A-Z and Napa. They don't have them.

I think I found something that works. Dorman part #610-174 is a wheel stud about 1/4" longer than my stock studs. It has a smaller knurl diameter by only .005. I went to Carquest, the store has been there forever, my first time in there. They let me browse through the Dorman book.

My stock stud is:
#610-103
1 19/32" length
.673 knurl
9/16" shoulder

The one I found is:
#610-174
1 3/4" length
.668 Knurl
9/16" Shoulder

I bought one and put it on. Seems to pull in tight. Torqued it down to 95' lbs and seems okay.

I know this is an old thread but did not want to start up a new one.  I found out this weekend that my rear wheel studs are too short for my new rims.  How hard is it to replace the studs with longer ones?  Do they just hammer out?
I still have rear drums and was thinking about upgrading to disks but dont have the cash.  If I can just replace the studs that will be better on my wifes pocket book right now.  Kids gota eat ya know.

thanks.

People have been pounding out the old ones for years. They make a tool to press the old ones out and press the new ones in. You could try Auto Zone and see if they have it. You can use tools for free at Auto Zone. Otherwise use some old wheel stud nuts with big washers to pull the new studs in.
