Hey everyone, newbe here.  i recently purchased a 68 charger  ;D my only problem is that it has a 69 front clip on it.  With the price of metal fenders i was thinking of buying fiberglass ones.  I have heard that it is almost impossible to get them straight enough to look good.  right now i am in college at Mcpherson KS and am majoring in restoration so i have axcess to all of the tools i would need. i was just wondering if it could be made to look good.
any feed back would be appreciated.
thanks

Sometimes fiberglass fenders don't fit all that well, like this example; http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,28713.0.html

Oh & congrats on getting a Charger! Welcome to the site.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

to get it straight will take a lot of filler, a lot of primer and a lot of time. Really all you can do is fit it up against the car and see where your going to need to add or remove material. I've never install a 'glass or carbon fiber part that didnt need either building up or grinding down alittle bit. after you have it fitting decent with decent gaps then prep and prime, and block it down, then add either body filler or more primer until you get it flat I guess. pretty much a standard operating procedure. the biggest problem is making sure to fit the part first is the biggest thing.

has anyone heard of VFN fiberglass? Do they put out a good product or are they as crappy as the ones in the link?

moparguy01

VFN is one of the better fiberglass places, but they will still need to be fit and probably modified. Most all of them fit kinda crappy, its like body kits for these newer import turd cars. None of them fit worth a shit.

Another vote to sell the 1969 parts and get the 1968 ones.

Go to the Dukes of Hazzard/General Lee message boards, and you'll find no shortage of people who would much rather have 1969 parts than the 1968 ones.

There are many people out there looking for the parts you have.

Is there something wrong with the fenders other than having the wrong side markers?

Why not plug the rectangle holes. then get a whole saw and cut the fenders for the round 68 side markers.

Next, swap the center section of the grill. You'll also have to swap out some of the grill trim.
Still looking for 15x7 Appliance slotted mags.....

Thats a pretty good idea.  i never thought about doing that, it would prolly be the cheapest way also.
thanks for everyon's input. if  all thats different is the markers i think ill do that.
thanks again everyone

Earth. Even the word sounded strange to me now... unfamiliar. How long had I been gone? How long had I been back? Did it matter? I tried to find the rhythm of the world where I used to live. I followed the current. I was silent, attentive, I made a conscious effort to smile, nod, stand, and perform the millions of gestures that constitute life on earth. I studied these gestures until they became reflexes again. But I was haunted by the idea that I remembered her wrong -Solaris
