have a friend here in kansas, he had a buddy who was selling a 71 Charger R/T 440/4bbl  4 spd Dana car.  He never called me or let me know about it.  The guy needed money bad and sold it for $7,500.00!!!!!  Boy... that pissed me off.... but oh well, moparhound knows the guy and the guy was offered $3,500 more for the car from a friend of his and he turned it down.  I bet we will be seeing that on ebay soon.  Sorry no pics, but moparhound may be able to get some.

yep! I have left my number on a 69 SUper bee that sat in a yard for years.  I would stop and talk to the guy every 5 or 6 months and would often drive past.  It was always the same story " I'm gonne fix it uo one day"  One day I noticed the car was gone, I went to the door and asked if he was having something done at a shop.  He told me"No I finally decided to sell it" man I was pissed.  He said he thought about me but had miss placed my #.

It's funny how some of our friends, & even family, know us all as the "car nut", but never tell you about something like that. Of course they'll tell you about the rotted out, four door Dart, or the dented up, Pinto wagon they saw at the mall, but never the good stuff, LOL.

One of my close friends had a 1966 Pontiac Tempest that he did a very nice resto-mod on years ago. Solid & rust free, a Chebby small block, nice interior & paint, & best of all, it was a convertible. Another friend of ours always said he would love to buy it if he ever decided to sell. One day he had the car out of the garage & a stranger who drove by stopped & offered to buy it. None of us knew about the sale until a few weeks later & we were shocked. What bugged me most was that he has sold it for $2800 & was easily worth 3 times that.  :o

Now I'm not a Pontiac guy, but I always liked the 1966 & 1967 GTO body, & would have coughed up the money to have a ragtop in decent shape. My other friend was bummed quite a bit since he had always said he would love to have it. People do strange things.  ::)

(We're all still friends btw.)

like the guy at work who was the original owner of the cherry '57 Fury who promised for 14 years to sell it to me,.. I'd allways ask If he was "ready to sell?"  it since it was just sitting in the garage and he would constantly say "Don't worry dave, If i ever sell the Fury it's going to you, cause i know your a mopar lover!"...
It was like a mantra between us...

Yep that be the one!  I thought his sons owned it and would probably keep it until they were offered a ridiculous amount of money. I thought he had sold it years ago!

A few years ago I know it was at a pawn shop a couple of times.... I guess for money. I went there and checked on it, but the pawn shop owner told me that it was still owned by the current owner as the loan was still being paid on.

Who did he sell it too?

Ghoste

And you know what?  Most of the time, if those people find out you're upset they didn't sell it to you, they're genuinely puzzled about it.
Sorry to hear you didn't get it.

RD

well i have an update... a little bird told me he now wants 15K for the car.....  :rotz: its official, he's a dick.

IF you didn't know what he paid for it, would you consider a good deal at 15?  (a side issue I know, but I guess I'm just trying to look for a bright side to it)

Well if its the same one that was my friends old 71 in Hutch here. I had a chance to buy it for 2grand in about 1997 but decided against it as I already had a Charger and didnt know anyone else out there into Mopars. Couldnt find parts for mine and decided not to get this 71RT as well.! Most terrible decision of my life I think so far. I kick my self everyday for not buying it. My once in a lifetime chance to own a high end car.   :brickwall:

I think this car was originally green at one time. If its the same car I know a few owners of it from years ago. When my friend sold it it was solid but had some rust issues to deal with. Had funky fur like seat covers on it.

The one I am talking about belonged to a guy here in Wichita or Sedgwick County that had two other sons that always deal in
parts at all of the mopar meets.....except the Charger meet in Eldorado! LOL!

I messed up when hubby was gone...we were offered a charger (i believe it was a 69) in great condition, running for $5,000.  I know we didn't have the money, but didn't think about making payments to the guy (who probably would have made the deal with us).  Hubby is PISSED!!!!  I hear about it all the time.

I bet its the car. It went to Wichita area some years ago. Those 2 dudes would pick a town and drive up and down every alley and street looking to buy. I had my garage door open 5-6 years ago and they knocked on the door wanting to buy Frankie and the 71.

I pissed off now too. :icon_smile_angry: What were you thinking?

Anyway, maybe that '71 is FUBAR and the guy didn't want to sell it to anyone he knows. If it has some major problems he probably just wanted to dump it on someone who wouldn't come back to visit him with a 2X4.
