dunno why, but is amazing how 1957 has so many cool cars, and all are my fav ones... Dodge Custom Royal, Corvette, T-Bird, Belair, Sunliner... probably there is some one around also 57 that will like..

Do you think is there a reason ? do you happen the same ?

what do you think about 57s and  why are kinda charming ?

I think that was the start of american cars having some personality, the fins on the back and more rounded shapes,  I really think 55 was the start of cars being more than just transportation.

You can trace many of the classic designs to one man. Harley Earl. The man was a genious.
Cars owned:
1968 Dodge Charger, 48k orig. miles, family owned since new.

The only car made in '57 I like what so ever is the '57 Chevy Bel Air.

It took twelve years for people to start feeling optimistic about the future again after WWII and learning to live with the bomb?
And personally, I'd take a 57 Dodge over the Chev any day, but to each his own.

Cars kind of track the optimism of the times just like the economy does.  I think 1955 was the real turning point for cars.  Chev got the V8 and built the first modern GM car.  Ford had the V8 but did finally break away for the post war car to move into the modern era (look at the difference between the 54 and 55 Fords).  And things pretty much cooked along for a couple more years culminating in the neat cars that appeared in 1957.  I'll never forget the time I saw the 57 t-bird.  I still want one and think they look just as neat now as I did then.  And the 57 Corvette is considered by some to be the cleanest and best one they ever did.  Of course, the 57 chev is one of the all time classics.  Funny how the following year they seemed to ruin all the cars.  Most cars in 1958 are more or less forgetable.  I don't recall but I think we were having a downturn in the economy about then.  Maybe beancounters were running things then.  Beancounters never want to take a chance and try new things.  They want to take as little risk as possible and wring as much blood out of the turnip as they possibly can-------just like they do now.
