This was on the internet, looks bad lowered like this.  You figure the front tires rub bad?  or the rear fender wells had to be cut out?  how hard would it be to do this to my car?

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

Blacknight, I remember that name from here back when I was first a member on the site before,   I guess I didn't see a pic of his car back then or didn't remember.   wouldn't mind being able to contact him and ask rim and tire size VS. lowered height.

Just would like an idea of how low car can be with how wide of tires and offset rims, etc., without actually having to buy new rims and tires, I believe you get not return policy at most shops, . . .

Ross? He had that burgandy 69 with a 440 in it right? Damn I loved that car. His was lowered as well. I haven't seen him on here for a long time.

As far as lowering the car, crank down the torsion bars and run lowering blocks. Mine is lowered, and I run a 17X8 front wheel and a 18X10 rear wheel. It does not rub in the rear ever. Sometimes it does a little on the front on very sharp turns.

Hey, thank you, that is good info.  18x10, that is big, and it fits under the fender well?  can you please tell me what size tires you have on those?
do you think a size up would fit from what you bought for rear?  sounds like front is maxed out pretty well, don't mind occasional rub on really sharp crank of steering wheel,  on back as long as you don't gouge out sidewall over bumps, a slight occasional rub could live with, depends,
do you know the offset of rims?    I know these radical tire sizes are spendy, but dang, looks tough
thanks, Nate

I like 8wheelers car too............its lowered and I think perfect............not over kill........the only thing that worries about lowering these car is the K-Frame is already low enough so any lowering in front you will have to be very careful were you drive and what you go over............K_Frame replacement is no fun.......I did it on a already damaged K-Frame on my car and I'm  novice soooooooo thats not saying much but I bet allot of experienced people would say the same.............

Nate,

The rear tire size is a 285 40 18, and I have plenty of room for more. I am thinking a could sqeeze a 315 or 325 18 under there. The fronts are 245 45 17's.

The wheels are 17X8 with a 4.5" backspace, and the rear is 18X10 with a 5.5" backspace.

I have the car lowered a 1 1/4" in the rear but I plan on dropping it another inch in a week or two.

As far as tire prices, shop around. My local Discount Tire matched the lowest internet price I could find, that way I did not have to pay for shipping.

Take care. Tim

Well, my car was not originally a 440 center console AT, was a 318 column shift in a previous life, then got the column thing removed, a hurst console ratchet shifter, a sure grip rear end, and a 440 before I got the car,  like it isn't going to be original ever, I can appreciate the original cars, and R/T clones, but I figure, with what I have, I can make it look how I want, that black car pictured above looks cool if you ask me.

As long as the back rims and tires are bigger than the front,  so it still looks like muscle car.  I am not a big fan of say 4 exact taller rims with rubber band tires, but to each their own,  lowered charger looks tough IMO

Note:  check out Mike's black '68 on Bullrun show on Spike tv,  and tell me that doesn't look bad.

I love the stance of this 68. I have had that picture save on my computer for a while now. Would love to see some more pics of low Chargers. Mine is on its way to getting that low.

Well I was hoping to get that same tire on an 8.5 Vector and still have wheel well clearence. The Vectors only have a 3.5" backspace, and is right there close to the wheel well.

terrible one

You could get that tire on the rim, but the backspacing is what will kill you as you already know. But if you have the right backspacing a 295 will go on an 8.5" rim.

Yeah, just cant fix that pesky backspace problem with these wheels. :brickwall: :violin:
