Charger sets record at NJ Region AACA show

Sorry for the delayed posting on this but I figured I would share some of the joy with everyone.  Yesterday the NJ Region AACA club had their annual spring show and had about 240 cars there.  I was in the Senior class since my car won first place last year and I got bumped up to this category this year.  This class is for cars that have won first place within the last 5 years from all of the 15 categories they have.  If you have a stock appearing car, I would highly suggest this show to anyone as it is a real enjoyable day.  Anyway, the car was looking really good since I had it a show two weekends ago, it needed minimal cleaning.  When they came to my class, 3 other cars got selected which had me puzzled with their selection but oh well, its only a show.  The car was running decent, looked great, spent many hours talking to lots of great spectators and other car owners,  and it was a nice day also.  As I was packing up the car, I heard them starting to give out the special trophies they have: Best unrestored car, Best car from the 1957 model year (they do a special trophy for 50th year aniversaries), and then Best Restoration Car of the Year Award.  I was totally dumb founded when they called my name.  This is the trophy that they give to the Best in Show and is also the car that gets its picture on the dash plaque for the following year show.  On top of this award, your name and car gets engraved into the plaque part of the trophy at the end of the year when you have to return it so they have it for the following year.  As I was looking over the trophy before I left (as they were getting me this huge wooden case for the trophy) I noticed that the last Mopar that won was 8 years ago and was a 1961 Chysler 300.  After looking at all of the winners over the past 40+ years, my car is the NEWEST model out of all of them.  How weird is that!  My "new" car set a record at the show.  For the record, this trophy is as tall as my 4 month old daughter.  I am still trying to get her to stand long enough next to the trophy or even have her sit next to it so I can take a cool pic of it with her.

Anyway, I figured I would post this to make the Charger community proud that we beat out the Fords and GM cars which had the reign over the past 8 years.

There's an AACA show up in Poughkeepsie at Locust Grove in July (15?).    Maybe it's something you might be interested in. 

I went there last year - they put modified cars at the back of the property... in the shade... out of the 97 degree heat.  Awwww crap  ;D     They had Somebodies great great grandmother and grandfather picked the winners for modified class  - they went with real old st8t hot rods.  What a surprise  :P

I will try and get a current picture of the car today as I have to take a ton of different angled shots for them so they can pick the best one to use on the dash plaque for next year.  For now, here is a picture of my car from the John Johnson Dodge show two weekends ago.

Ah, you never know Chris.  My car isn't 100 percent stock.  There is one thing that I have not changed and probably will never change cause of the reliability of it.  I'll give you a hint, its inside my engine compartment......

Let me get this straight....at an AACA event that bases its existance on "stockness" & you win the super stockness award, but at an LXforums.com sponsored show, you will even consider going into light modified because of an engine compartment modification to be determined at a later date?
First it was the radial tires now this?

I dont get it bro........your stuff is "correct" right down to the valve caps (save for the color change, stripe etc) :rotz:  Unless you just want to park next to us modded guys......I can understand that! :cheers:

Awww, c'mon Chris.  I was just having fun with ya.  I will be in the stock category this year because everything on my car is stock (except for the color change which is still a 69 optional color) and the tail stripe.  The only thing that is not stock on my car is one thing that is VERY well hidden in the engine compartment which I highly doubt that someone will pick up on.  To the untrained eye, everything on my car is factory optional equipment.

(But I will probably be over with the light modifed guys to BS even though the car will be parked in the stock category) :cheers:
