stock exhaust manifolds, single exhaust pipe.
column shift.

I'm having trouble deciding how to remove the manifolds and the trans linkage.

Linkage_As far as I can tell I either remove the bracket from the frame rail or the one on the trans, or both. One problem, bracket on frame bolt head is rounded and bolt rusted into frame.

Manifolds_Only options I see are remove from manifolds from heads or cut the pipes.

I'm just looking for some suggestions or ways to make this easier that I may not be seeing.

Big Lebowski

Sawsall the exhaust, get a manual it shows all linkage, take the tranny out with the engine. It's easy, get the back of the car as high as you can, remove all mount bolts, have a jack let the tranny down, then the whole thing lifts out without scratching the rad. support. 2 hrs. max at the resto shop I worked at.
"Let me explain something to you, um i am not Mr. Lebowski, you're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the dude, so that's what you call me. That or his dudeness, or duder, or you know, el duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing."

I'm actually removing the engine and trans.

So one vote for just cutting the exhaust.

I recently removed my engine (although I didnt' do the trans with it). I had a strpped bolt on the manifold too. I ended up heating the hell out of it then "popping it off". All in all it took about 10 freakin' hours. I agree with Big Lebowski... saw that sucker off.

I waited till last to decide on the exhaust. I was so tired by then I decided on the quickest easiest. Cut it right off.
Took about 4 hours. Sorry but I was adding taped on notes to wires. There are so many emissions devices on this thing. So I guess I am not so fast at engine removal.
Thanks for advice.
