Hi guys! I actually work for Auto Metal Direct. If you have any questions about the tail light panel, I'd be happy to answer them.

Jeremy

Would you know the thickness of the metal that is being used?  Are they complete as in tail mounts and trunk locks, etc...?  How much does Auto Metal Direct charge for shipping?

Thanks,
Fernando

Jeremy, do you guys have a website?  I am looking for some parts, the wife (aka the commander in chief), just released some funds for me to put into the car, not much you understand but it will allow me to get some much needed parts  :yesnod:

What else do you offer for the 68-70 Chargers?

70rt,

We have got a lot of stuff coming but I can't tell you yet.  I apologize for that.  The production process on these kinds of parts is long and can get delayed if the test-fitting doesn't come out right.  And we don't want to put a poor quality part out.  So, I honestly don't have exact dates on the parts we've got coming.  And I don't want to create some hype and have everyone get disappointed if there are delays.  Hang in there and I'm sure you will be nicely surprised.  But it probably will be some time this summer before I have any other stuff available.

Fernando,

All of our sheet metal ranges from 19-21 gauge.  I have not actually measured this panel.  My R&D guy has our measuring tool and may not be back to the office in a couple days so I don't know when I'll be able to get that measurement for you.  Sorry about that.  Our subsidiary company is selling this part in their eBay store and there is a picture on there that may help answer your other questions.  The store's URL is http://stores.ebay.com/Vintage-Auto-One.  Shipping costs depend on where you are located and what delivery options you want.  We can give you options when you order.

Hope that helps.

AirborneSilva,

We do not have a website yet.  It is in development but won't be ready for a while.  Sorry about that.  Right now, though, the tail light panel and the 68-69 Front Bumper and the 68-70 Rear Bumper are all we sell for Chargers.  We've got more stuff coming but it will be a while before we have it available.  You can check our subsidiary company's eBay store for pictures of the tail light panel:  http://stores.ebay.com/Vintage-Auto-One.

Okay, j.  lets jus do a couple of frinstances.

Lets say frinstance you were gonna put out other parts...would full quarters be among those parts?

And if, frinstance, you do build full quarters...what would the price on those be?

And, without holding your feet to the fire at all, if you did build full quarters, would they be out in less than a year or more than a year?

I know you can't say much...and I understand that, but I would like to know if there is a chance that I'll be able to spend less than 4,600 bucks and still get good quality full quarters.

Do I smell a group buy request from Auto Metal Direct coming? Or is it already in the works?

I'm sure there are more than enough of us here that would like to buy one of these panels.  Maybe we can talk AMD in to giving us DC.com guys/gals a discount.

What do you think Jeremy, can you make it happen?

Orange_Crush,

I know you and everyone else are chomping at the bit to get these parts.  It kills me to not give you the answers that you want.  I hate the "I know something that you don't" thing.  I just really can't say specifically what we've got coming yet.  What I can say is that the parts that we've got coming have been made from NOS parts on METAL tooling. We've been developing our parts for about a year now.

One of the reasons it takes so long to get these products out is because we don't want to sell poor quality stuff.  Just because we are one of the first to offer these products and just because there's a huge need for these products doesn't mean that we should just throw crap out there.  Even if the price was only $50, if the quality is poor, then nobody will buy it.  And with the money we've invested in all of this, we kind of want to sell some of these things.   :yesnod:

A lot of our products are slated to be out sometime this summer. Actually we are getting some samples in next week. Once we test fit and approve them, the production/shipping time is about 60 days. The main reason we don't want to say what we've got coming and when is because if the samples are in any way in need of tweaking in order to make sure they are right, then that will delay the process and then we have to tell everybody they're not here yet. We would look like we were just hyping everybody up. We don't want to do that. I hope everyone understands that. We've got quality products coming at very reasonable prices that I'm certain everyone will be happy with.  Hang in there with me. I know that isn't specific but I hope that appeases well enough for now.

As far as price is concerned, I have no idea where you pulled $4,600 from for your question, but we won't be anywhere near that amount. Who would pay $4,600 for quarters even if they were good quality repros? That is extremely expensive.

Mike,

I am all for a group buy.  I'll have to talk to my boss to see what kind of discount we can provide for "X" amount of panels.  Right now we are low on supply.  We've got a lot of them coming that will be here in June and we will probably get a small intermediate supply in the meantime, but I may honestly have to wait until we get the bulk of them in before we can offer a group buy.  But I'm sure we could work something out.  I'll let you know something as soon as I can.  My boss won't be in today so it may be Monday before I can let you know.

Jeremy,

Where that $4,600 price tage came from is there is a company (I'm too lazy right now to look them up), that is making full 1/4's and they are charging $2,300 a piece for them, which I think is too much but will probably end up buying at least the drivers side 1/4 from them, unless someone else comes up with one cheaper - hint hint  :icon_smile_big:

As I said before, I don't WANT to pay 2300 a side for full quarters from hardcore racing (company that's making them), but I will if I have to.  There is something about Hardcore that makes me feel like I'd have to sanitize myself after our business transaction.  The only way that I will is if there is no other alternative.  Hardcore's quarters are nice, high quality pieces (this from people that have seen them).  But I still don't want to spend that kind of money.  If you could bring quarters to market for somewhat less AND do it by the end of the summer, then I would be your customer without hesitation.

SO the challenge has been laid at your feet.

Hey there Jeremy,

Nice to see one of the suppliers come on board to talk about the merchandise. We've had a history on this board of various members posting about new products they see & hear about, & stating, "IT WILL BE AVAILABLE IN 12 MINUTES, GET OUT YOUR WALLET!!" and then, either nothing happens for 2 years, or simply nothing happens at all.

Do you guys plan on being at any of the major Mopar shows with the parts? I ask because having potential customers see & hold the part is a big plus. A lot of us have been disappointed in the past with poor quality, & would now want to see what we get in person before paying for it & dealing with all the shipping hassles.

Thanks.

Orange_Crush,

Ok, I just talked to my boss.  I can tell you that, YES, we are making FULL QUARTERS.  What I can't tell you is exactly when they will be here this summer.  There are too many things that can happen to delay the parts from getting to us.  I also can't tell you what our pricing will be.  I ASSURE you that it will not be even close to $2,300 per side.  That's insane.  I don't know how this other guy will sell any at that price.  I say that knowing full well that I am biased to my company and products, but there's a limit to what anyone would be willing to pay for something like that.  The next thing people will probably think about is how we can sell the same quality product at a cheaper price. There are a lot of reasons for that. Without going into detail, I'll say this: when the parts get here, they will speak for themselves. I know that doesn't help you guys that are waiting for these things anxiously. All salesmanship aside, though, you've been waiting for a long time for this stuff, why not wait a little longer to make sure you get a good quality product at a great price, too?

Old Moparz,

It's my pleasure to be a part of this. For two reasons: 1. I'm a little biased since I do work for the company that's producing these products and 2. I've been a fan of Chargers since a child growing up watching Dukes of Hazzard, so I'm excited about it, too.

I know that other places have said that they are making something and said that they will be available and then not come through with what they've said.  That's actually why I've been trying to convince my boss that we really need to get a write-up with pictures of the products along the way out on the web. I'll at least try to get some pictures posted here of the samples at least.

We will be at the Mopars at Carlisle show and the Mopar Nationals show, but I don't know what of these parts we'll have at each show.  I would say that the likelyhood of us having some parts would be for the Mopar Nationals since its in August.  I completely understand about personally inspecting it before buying, though.  I do it myself.  Like I said in another post, once these parts are available, they will speak for themselves.  I won't even have to sell them.

Jeremy, I'm familiar with a Company that makes Camaro 1/4's for $400 each. As far As I know this same Company makes the new 70 Charger 1/4 but supplier or distributor say's price is $2,300 each which I think is insane & taking advantage of people. Since they are the only Co making this 1/4 they have a monopoly on it making pricing the Sky's the limit. If you or someone else was to also produce a Charger 1/4 this would provide competition that would result in them having to lower their price to compete. Also, Someone needs to make 71-72 Charger 1/4's. Also, I have to disagree on the one comment, Shermans has been producing Crap garbage poor fit aftermarket parts for past 20+ years & they sell lots of it so Crap does sell. Maybe there should be 2 different quality parts to choose from, Crap & then Quality. Lots of people have low funds for a resto & so then these people can buy the Crap. The Millionaire with rare Hemi car can by the better stuff. Just my opinion. LEON.

Ther was a vendor at E-Town today that had one of those tailpanels forsale. Don't know if it is from this company or not but I was with 3 Charger guys and they all liked the piece!!!  It was complete with the taillight studs and all like an original.  Infact John that started this post had it is his hand so maybe when he see's this he'll chime in...

Jeremy,

Are there any plans on making 3rd gen stuff, or are you guys just going to stick with the 2nd gen stuff for a while?  It seems as though you guys would be the "it" company for repro pieces if development on everything is continued.
