Does the valley pan get one gasket or two?

I'm getting a vac leak at the rear of my intake, when I installed the valley pan I only used a gasket on the top. Should there be a gasket on the top and bottom of the valley pan?

The kits Ive gotten from Fel Pro have gaskets for both sides of the valley pan.

I could not get the pan on using gaskets. I used sealer on both sides of the pan. No gaskets. Bolt holes would not line up with gaskets.

It's a fight getting the manifold on with the paper gaskets and the valley pan, even more so if your heads/block deck have had some milling done to them for squaring or to raise compression.

Next time I'll not use the paper gaskets.

If you want to run paper gaskets with the bathtub gasket it's a good idea to use aviation snips and trim away all of the raised embossing first. Trim only up to the inside of the embossing, this leaves enough of the bathtub  to cover the valley but leaves the port exposed to the paper gasket which does all of the actual port sealing.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Big Lebowski

I've always heard only the Alum. intakes use gaskets. The rest use just the metal pan & Hi-temp orange RTV

I've had several aluminum intakes over the years and I've only ever used the metal pan.  No problems in the last 25 years so far.
The one exception was a few years ago when I did try to use the paper gaskets as well and I had all kinds of sealing trouble because of misalignment.

No paper gasket here....just Ultra copper rtv on both sides of the port openings and on the end rails.

I often instal the paper gasket between the valley pan & the heads Only , with just silicone between the pan & intake
