Am I right in thinking the snap on dial back timing light will not work with MSD 6al.

If so , what should I get.

Thanks guys.

i have a snap on digital led timing light and i set the timing on my 6al equiped 68 charger........what supposed to be the problem with it?

Read a few topics about it, they reckon the dial back lights don't like to see the multi sparks , only good for one spark , hope there wrong. Gonna be fitting the MSD this weekend, just hoping the lights gonna work ok.

I've heard the same thing Adam....i guess you should just give it a try and see what happens. I have an old Craftsman inductive light that works fine with multispark boxes.

Well , fitted the msd , started her up, forgetting I pulled the vac plug off the intake to fit an inboard vac gauge, when it finaly started, shone the light on it & got three white lines on the damper ::) so I thought the timing light is no good fot msd >:(

When I discovered the plug was missing , & the motor was suffeering from a massive vac leak :eyes: I refitted the plug & started to time it up again, when hey presto, the light worked only seeing one line.

Can't work out why the light was playing around cos of the vac leak :scratchchin:

good to know ...was the engine fluttering a little possibly messing with the mechanical advance?

Don't know , but i tell you what, was running the leanist that demons ever gonna see. :icon_smile_big:

Below 2300 rpm., the msd 6al fires 6 times ?  I think ?  per cylinder, which can cause the variance.

Best check total timing, at higher rpm(after 2300), when it switchs back to single spark per cyl.

Cool Adam, glad to hear the MSD works with your light.  :yesnod:

It's a hit or miss deal with the dialback lights....some work, some don't. Time to start dialing that badboy in !
