the vin is WH23 but the car is an SE (WP29) :scratchchin:

and the build sheet doesn't say anything about it being a SE  :scratchchin:

i'm gonna say its REBODY  :stirthepot:

If you read the description, its obviously not all original.  I love TT2s.  The only thing that needs to go are the mudflaps.

SOMETHING'S fishy. It DEFINITELY DIDN'T come that way. It says that combo is RARE- that is because they never made them that way.

I DO like the car though and I'd LOVE to have those wheels on my car (Hell Either one of my cars!)

For $15,000 you'd at least expect a working cigarette lighter!

I kid, I kid!  Nice car.

Definately something going on with that one!  :yesnod:

Far from original.   Look how the front and rear upper panels dont match.   :scratchchin:

a rallye SE?  me dont think so.... unless it was a dealer thing... but then again, the wh23 VIN creates controversy

Probably because if he added the SE quarter glass treatment, mostly SE rear upper panels are brougham and no regulars wider woodgrain, BTW hard to see... I would have changed the front ones to match thought!!!, pretty easy to find, specially in black

actually they do exist... hard to see, but they exist... however they are more SEs with partial Rallye treatment, instead Rallyes with SE treatment.

my thing is that the build sheet says nothing about the SE package. if this were a real SE/Rallye i think the build sheet would have to make mention somewhere. or how would they know to make it that way? whether the car i original or not is not even a question, because its obviously not. the question is wether someone added the opera windows to a Rallye, or the more likely of the two the Rallye was re-bodied as a SE.

here is his reply to that statement you made--

HELLO,
LET ME START ANSWERING YOUR QUESTION AS FOLLOWS. I WAS A DODGE DEALER HERE FOR 29 YEARS, I RETIRED 5 YEARS AGO, I HAVE THE BROADCAST SHEET, WHICH IF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH MOPAR PRODUCTS IS PUT UNDERNEATH THE BACK SEAT WHEN THE CAR IS BUILT. THIS CAR WAS BUILT AS A BASE CHARGER, THEN THE RALLEY PACKAGE WAS ADDED AND THEN THE OPTIONAL SE ROOF. THE REAR WINDOWS ARE THEREFORE STATIONARY., THIS IS A VERY RARE CAR. I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. OF THAT BE ASSURED. I HAVE HAD THIS QUESTION RAISED BEFORE. I THOUGHT I STATED THE FACT THAT THIS WAS CAR WAS A RARE/UNUSAUL ONE IN THE DECRIPTION. IF I DID NOT GET THAT ACROSS, I APOLOGIZE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST. I HOPE YOU GET THE CHANCE TO OWN THIS. I HAVE ENJOYED IT, BUT IT IS TIME FOR A NEW PROJECT. GOOD LUCK IF YOU SHOULD DECIDE TO BID. KURT

Kurt,

Thanks for lettings us know about this.  Hope this clears things up for some people.  It is a pretty interesting car to say the least.    And welcome to the site.

pettyfan43

I'd love to see more information on that thing. IF it is what he says, that sucker is RARE!

My understanding is that the S/E top AUTOMATICALLY makes the car a WP29.

That is truly a COOL car though. But I would have to see documents before I made a commitment to buy the car

Im not so sure.  Seems like maybe the spring special Chargers should be in the same category but were coded as a hardtop WH23 car.  I cant really remember now.

I didn't know this! Oh well, I won't say I've never been wrong, adn I probably will be again before today is over with!

wouldn't it just be the same as when the dealers were dropping big blocks in the darts?  the factory would have made it a certain way, with the build sheet saying one thing, and the dealership made the changes.  therefore, they wouldn't be reflected on the sheet.  It makes it "rare" since it's been that way for a long time, but not really any different than if one of us, say, pirated a 71 bee for our 73 SE.  *cough*   :D

ok... where does it say SE roof?

440 six pack 4 spd. , that's cool righ there, even though maybe not original, the dealer installed it when car was new?  does that count as its sort of original?
funny under body/chassis, has listed new windshield wipers,   well, car is in great shape and lots new, bet that car is fun to drive

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

Someone told me, on a link I posted here,  a few months ago that 73' Chargers were not made with 440 pistol grips, just 400 PG's? :scratchchin:
