I have a 318 engine put in my 74 charger and I cannot get spark. I have the coil, electronic ignition, voltage regulator, spark plug wires, the distributer and the sparkplugs all hooked up. and still don't get anything. ???

It wouldn't even start by key

Double check the bulkhead wire fitting on the firewall.

look at the master cylinder, down about a foot and left a few inches.  It probab;y just looks like a spider web of wires, but if you can push them aside you should be able to see what looks like 3 rectangular shaped plugs.  They're plugged into the bach of your fuse panel, so you can use that as a reference too.  I had to replace a plug in mine last winter, but new ones are available for about $15 each if you need them, I'll see if I can find the site I got mine from... they had the brass connectors too I believe....

other than that, are you sure the coil is good?  Also I had a friend that had, I think, a resistor on the firewall go on him for no real reason, kind of a white ceramic square towards the top of the firewall, passenger side.  His engine would turn over but wouldn't fire until he replaced it, then ran perfect.

if you have a voltmeter start tracing power , What has power with the key on , you should have poower at the ECU , Ballast & coil

half that stuff is long gone on my car ;D  if you have power to the ballast and coil then its a problem somwhere between the distributer and plugs.  Just to eliminate another possibility try having someone turn the engine over a few times while it's pitch black out and see if there's any arcing, if so you'll need to replace all the plug wires and coil wire.  if it still happens you need a new coil and/or distributer.

replace your ECU.  they are only 9 bucks at a autoparts store.
