This is just too cool to not share....

I've been looking for the original engine for a couple years and out of the blue, I get an e-mail. The gentleman named (Brian B. in Ohio) said he thinks he might have the engine I've been looking for. A friend of his gave him my e-mail after seeing my ad at Moparts. He sent me pics of the casting date, ID pad stampings and the VIN...  Everything looked good in the pics, so I met him in Lima this past Saturday to buy the block from him.  Sure enough, it's the right one! The dates are good and the stampings look original.  My wife and I are so excited about this because it is a fairly rare car and the only thing that wasn't correct on it was the engine.  Now, after more than 20 years, they're back together! :2thumbs:

Now, I need to find the original car for the engine that's in the Charger now.  If you know somebody with '69.5 Bee missing their 440 (9A303033), send 'em my way!

That is too cool!  Glad that you found it.  I have read many post where a person is looking for their long lost engine.  With no luck whatsoever.  You are double lucky that the owner of the engine is willing to sell it back to you.  And took the time to check the number on his block to see if it matched yours.  Just out of curiousity.  Did he have the engine in a vehicle.  Or was it just lying around?

It was just sitting in a corner.  He bought it at the Mopar Nationals - 9 years ago!  He was getting ready to send it out for machining.  I'm glad he took the time... he didn't think it was even possible the car was around anymore.

I bet there is only a hand full of stories like this..Congrats :yesnod:
Earth. Even the word sounded strange to me now... unfamiliar. How long had I been gone? How long had I been back? Did it matter? I tried to find the rhythm of the world where I used to live. I followed the current. I was silent, attentive, I made a conscious effort to smile, nod, stand, and perform the millions of gestures that constitute life on earth. I studied these gestures until they became reflexes again. But I was haunted by the idea that I remembered her wrong -Solaris

Bob, did he hold you for ransom on price (knowing you needed it), or was he cool about helping you?  My view is this could be a simple deal where you just provide him with an equal (or better) block, and the swap would be free.....but I know it doesn't always goes down like that....  :'(

If its a 69 1/2 Bee, try the registry for em.

Tom,
Actually, I think he was fair.  His dream deal was to exchange it for a new MP Siamese Block, but since he found out I'm not filthy rich, he settled for $600. It was enough to cover what he had into it plus help out with his next machining bill a little.  I offered to exchange a nice block, but he already has several regular 440s to choose from.  Overall, I'd say it was a good deal for both of us. It sure helps the value of my car more than $600... not that I'm selling!

Heres the link ;): http://www.homestead.com/sixpacksixbbl/index.html

Thanks!  I've already sent the info to the registry and Galen G. - nothing yet.  I fear the car is gone, but I'll hold on to the engine for a while.

Naw, you know.... I really want the Super Bee - - not Super Blue.  :icon_smile_wink:  How about the "67' net" as partial trade?  :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Sorry Tom, the wife has claimed the Super Bee.  She claims its easier to eat ice cream (or something silly like that) with the automatic.

Congrats on the Survivor class win!  I'm really not surprised!

Love hearing a cool story about the coolest Charger Chrysler made...

Congrats! That is awesome.  :2thumbs: :2thumbs: I know that I would be real happy if I were to find my Rallyes original 340. I think $600 was more than fair.
