Hey, guys.  Got a quick one for you.  I just got a 3.23 sure grip chunk and two new 8 3/4 axles for my charger, which were MIA when I bought the body.

Now to the question--looking on Year One's site, there are two id tags which go on the housing:  one a rectangular tag that reads "3.23", and one round tag that reads "use sure grip lube."    Which one do I use, or do I use both?   :scratchchin:  For reference, the part numbers are FR834 and FR23.

Thanks for the help!

Your answers are already posted in a thread from last week.  If you use the advanced search feature you will find what you are looking for.  Remember the key words:  sure grip, 8 3/4, axle, ratio tag - don't use them all in one search.

Let us know what you find and good luck!   :yesnod:

what year ?, as a general rule the suregrip tag is 1968 and older.
Somewhere about 1969 or 1970 and later used an orange paint dab on the filler plug to indentify suregrip

Thanks, Shakey.  I usually use the search, and I can't remember if I did this time or not, or maybe just didn't use the right keywords.  At any rate, you answered my question.   :yesnod:

Thanks again, and it is a 68 so I'll be going with both tags.

Bill Allphin (A+M High Tech Auto) will be able to help you with those.

He is the other fella that responed to your question (gtx6970).

Crap.  Right before I posted, I ordered them from Year One.  Hard to believe a small stamped piece of metal is worth $18-20.  At least I had a code.  Thanks for the info.

A&M is now in my favorite searches, for future reference.
