Where to look to determine engine specs?

My 69 had a transplanted 440 dropped in it sometime before i bought it. I really don't know anything about the motor except that it has one of the purple shaft cams in it, "the .484 one i think". All the tags on the car show that it was originally a 318 car, so they are not really any help in this aspect either.

My question is, where on the block or heads can i find the casting #'s and what would i need to do to decipher them?

I'd like to find out what year 440 this is, and what heads it has on it.

the block has the cast #s on the side & the stamped #s on the top pad in front of the intake , you need to pull the valve covers to see the cast # on the heads , it is on the intake runner

Left/Right?
