ok got my charger out today has a 440  and i made it about 5 miles when i heard a boom ding ding ding  then the sounds whent away and started running horrible kinda dogish  but didnt make any more weird noises  soooo i get back to the garage and took off the valve covers and  one of my pushrods poked through the rocker arm and was stuck in the rockerarm  but,,  the one right next to it came out of place and fell beside the one that poked throught the rocker  was bent kinda bad  luckily i had enought parts to fix it tonite and it now runs fine   just thought id share this      and you should have seen my face when it made the sound  i know my heart skipped more than a few beats

I know how you feel brother.  Had the same thing happen to my t/a a few years back.  I thought I was going to have a heart attack when I heard the noise.  Good luck and did you have any valve damage?

luckily no valve damage  after we changed everyting and started it up we heard it it ticking for a while like for a few min kinda thought i had a bent valve but that   went away shortyly after...     did you have any damage done to yours when it happend to you ?

I bent 3 valves and timing chain was bad.  I ended up changing the timing chain, valves, rockers, pushrods and since I had the moptor in pieces I replaced the head gasket and put in a cam.  Very expensive problem, but on the bright side I learned alot about motors which is why I got in the hobby in the first place
