hey guys i have a little dilema.I am trying to buy a 68 superbee.the car has sat for at least 17yrs :rotz:the whole bottom is rotted out.frame rails, trunk floor, quarters.it is a 383 4spd car.nice hood.the guy that has it is the brothernlaw to the guy that actually owns it.and he wants it out of his yard.he was going to fix it up for him ,but when they got it to his house and started to work on it.he gave up as it is so rusty.
well anyways the motor is out and part way tore down.the interior is out.has some old ansen sprints on it.The gentlemen that owns it is from out of town and is here i am trying to get a meeting time and talk to him.the car has been in thier family since new.so he has a big sentimental attachment to it,but he let it rot under a tree for yrs.he thinks its worth alot is the impression i get.I don't want to make an low ball offer and piss him off.but what do you think might be reasonable?I have noticed knowbody seems to push the 68 models.mainly the 69's.
I have 2 68 coronets that have nice shells and i thought about using all the bee parts to fix mine up.
heres a pic ,but it doesn't show how bad the rust is.any opinions on what i should do?i don't think it really worth more than 1500.00$the way it is.

with that amount of rust that you say, $1500 MAX. Rust is like cancer, and after the 68 camaro that i just restored in similiar sounding condition, my next car will have ZERO rust, or as little as I can get.

Well, if you don't want to fix it up, let me know I will tackle that superbee.

Just ask him what he is looking to get for it, or what will it take to get it off your hands.

Can I use it for my website? ;D

yeah it is rotted bad.when they pulled it onto the trailer to bring it to were it is now the rear bumper and gas tank stayed on the ground were it sat.
the springs are through the trunk.whats left of it anyways.the cowl has rust through.I love the 68 bodys and i have 2 other 68 coronets, and i though about swap everything to mine that way i would have a bee.and save another real musclecar.

IMO, 1200-2000, depending on how bad ya want it! Does he have all or almost all the parts for it? if so, I would say more like 2000, "4 speed and 383 and maybe a good sure grip rear" as parts that car is a gold mine!

70charger_boy

I've seen cars in that condition go for 4 thousand all day long

Charger-Bodie

if you end up getting i have a 68 coronet 4dr parts car that is rock solid that id sell you for the floors rails and aprons

well no dice i just talked to him.He thinks he can spend 10G  and have it going.  ::)
he said he was going to think on it.he did admit he let it sit and rot.His whole family soes this.they have a load of antique tractors and they are all rotting away in the woods.Good side is he is gonna think about it and get back with my friend.that and his sister i think will push to get it out of her yard.so i guess i will keep my fingers crossed.maybe give him another offer in a week or so ???

$10,000 wont get you much on a rust bucket nowadays. It can be done if you want low quality that wont last long but Quality that will last will cost you 3 or 4 times that at least. From what I can see would not be surprised if it got $3-5k.

Mean 318

I have 10,000 in my drive train an I am not done yet! He is dreaming

ChargerSG

He is sure dreaming with that kind of money. But i wouldent buy it to stripp it, i would restore :yesnod:

I have about $18,000 in mine. It still needs a lot more work. I want his dreams. I have pics. It is a lot worse condition than the pics show.

jackel440

I didn't take any shots of the inside, but the trunk floor is gone along with the back panel were all the rear bumper mounts are and up into the whole tail panel.the pic is decieving.there is rust through on the cowl around the windshield.fenders have holes in all the normal b body places. My buddy said he took 15 scoop shovel scoops of walnuts and debri from the interior when he cleaned it out. :rotz: you can see all the way through the quarter(outer and inner) in front of the rear tires. All you are buying is the drivetrain.and then I was told it had a knock when he parked it.way back when. ::)
when they brought it to were its at now.they put a winch on the frontend and they said the control arm was trying to come out of the k frame. :o
I am still work on the guy though.

Ghoste

In their defence, I imagine when they parked it a restoration consisted of bondo and new paint.  They are out of touch as much as anything.  What's truly sad is that if they do go to get it done, after they get the estimate, they are likely to be so disappointed that they scrap the car.
