Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I'd like any pix of the cranes you took Shakester, please.

This block may look like it'd take a crew of bodybuilders to reeve it but Liebherr's crane's have this numbin' pressed onto the end of the load line.  You reeve it with this itty bitty wire a little bigger than fishin' line than hook it on to that numbin' & run the fishin' line opposite of the main hoist load line & it reeves itself.  Pretty trick.

On the old iron it'd take us more than an hour to reeve a block half the size of this one.

Just as well.  It just makes me yearn to be back out in the field.  I went out in style since I was on a brand new 360ton hydraulic mobile Liebherr.  You don't know what 'cha had till it's gone.  :-\

IMO crane ops must be born with big f**king brass ones! I've got beauceau helicopter time but put in me a skyscraper, on a tall bridge or catwalk and I'm cringing!

About 15 years ago we had over 100 loads go to a damn with a good majority of them being 15'-17' wide.  The last 100 or so miles was two lane.  Each load had to have 4 pilot cars.  3 were in front.  The extra ones were for any vehicles that didn't want get the hell out of the way after the first car warned them.

I used to go there all the time when my dad was on business trips for the laser show they did. It was pretty awesome if I recall.

A Mourning Dove decided that a flower pot on our deck was a good spot to lay an egg. It layed a second one after I took the pic. My mother is a bird expert and she says it will be about 2 weeks before they hatch and 3 more weeks before they fly away. The mother is always on edge because we are in and out of the door a lot, but she stays there rain or shine. Why she picked there, I don't know, but she's going to have to get used to the foot traffic.
