Random tip when photographing an eagle. If it is ignoring you, like this;

Whistle, loudly. They can hear quite well & they WILL turn to look at you. Be ready.

I can't seem to get that close. They would NOT hear me from my nearest vantage point. This is shot with a 1.6x crop factor camera @300mm and cropped to about 1/2 the frame.
