I don't believe in any of that nonsense!......like if you paint a room a dark color it makes it seem smaller.. If you like black paint it black. I don't think if you had 2 identical versions of your car sitting near each other that anyone would say "why does the black one look longer"
Just my thoughts

Since I like the Bronze color, if I had a spare non-matching Charger and/or clone I would paint it the new "Go Man-go" bronze/orange color. I think it would look sharp with the white or black stripe. I was very close on doing that until I was convinced by other board members here and other friends not to do that to a number matching car.

I guess that is my thinking.  I do not mind the plumcrazy color.  I love black,,,,,, But Just want the car to look good.  I have no fender tag etc. Do you have a sample of the color you speak of?

I agree with the friend who told you to match the car.  If you are going to paint it and have something like that I would do so.

Anyother thoughts on color.

I don't get much choice on this one.  When I bought it, it was under the condition that my wife could pick a new color for it (it Turbine Bronze now) and she chose good ole B5.  With white top and interior though, it'll look fine.

Mine is already a non-traditional yellow.  I have to have the hood and tail panel re-sprayed, and I will probably still go with this color yellow.

So,
I have a '68 numbers R/t, completely down to the unibody right now, just waiting for a fresh start.  I really don't like the original color (medium gold metallic).  What good argument is there for going with the original color if a person dosn't like it? :icon_smile_dead:  Resale?  I can't stand the thought of putting moocho $$ into paint and body and then have the same color that I didn't like.

Only if you intend to flip the car as soon as it's done.  Even then, you have to choose a color that is popular.

I'm thinkin very dark blue, but I haven't been able to pick the exact color yet

Someday (after I find a big box of cash  :-\) my car will be back to its original GY8.  Hated the thought of a gold car at first, but it is growing on me.   :icon_smile_cool:

Hey HeavyFuel, before you make your decision, just go to a car show and try to find a gold Charger that just has been restored. You might be surprised. The new paints make these "old" colors really stand out. It's exactly how I felt when I got my bronze Charger - my car was primed black. The engine compartment was the only area I could see the bronze. I really did'nt care for the color until I saw it in person at a car show on a 68 Road Runner. I also saw it on a Charger with "house of kolor" bronze paint job that was out of this world!!

So before you decide look at a recent "gold" paint job. The bottom line, paint it the color you want. It's alot of money to lay out to find yourself regreting it. The resale value issue should be secondary if you are going to keep it. Good luck.
