Forgive me for my ignorance....I don't have a real Superbird.  ???

Did they come with service books in the trunk?  Is that one of those things that completes a restoration?

There is a spiral bound "Special Parts and Maintainance Schedule" that was either included with the car, or sent to the original owner by mail.   It is a supplement to the regular owners manual.

daytonalo

It's a maintenance schedule ? worthless crap !!! The ad said blueprints , Obviously another JO defrauding the public !!!!! . Doug the bud is for you !!!!!!!!!! :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big:

Your a good guy ! The internet has created a whole new world .

wingfan

At first I thought this was the parts and service manual, which I have.  But it's a lot more than that.  It looks like a valuable piece of Superbird history.  There can't be too many of these floating around, so it's worth some bucks.  Maybe it's an assembly line manual.  Too bad the pictures are fuzzy.  He added a couple more.

nascarxx29

.It kind of reminds me of the fleet engeering manual. That has alot of mechanical drawings for the superbird parts

I'm going to say that its not a bad buy if you have a Superbird. I saw a similar book for sale at the Mopar nationals about 3 years ago, and the seller at that time was asking $150. It sold that weekend as well. It is far from expensive toilet paper. Then again I guess anything old is expensive toilet paper to some, and if it can be reprinted then that is much better right.

Since I took my bird apart and put it back together without one I really don't have a need for it.I was always with the thinking that if you take it apart you can put it back together. Now if you were to be clueless and try to build one from scratch that would be a different story.Or like I said earlier if you are a paper collector spend your money as you see fit. :Twocents:.

69_500

True, if you have one that your taking apart, you should merely just detail what part comes from where, and then put it back the same way. However most people on here are doing clones, so would be a good diagram of where to start, and what all in entailed as well.

Redbird

Hopefully it gets bought and then the pages get put in the WW or DSAC, and several folks don't bid against eachother for the highest bidding "credit". Seems to me someone cloning would be better served by measuring an original car, rather than re-inventing what are on some sketches.

Ghoste

But they would be great for getting all those details normally hidden from sight.

Redbird

Simply, I believe it would be much better for the wing car hobby if it was in the public realm at one of the two clubs, rather than in someones attic collecting dust. If someone wants to see how the plans were actually carried out, look at a survivor. There are a number of authentic survivors.

Ghoste

Oh I completely agree on the public realm thing, I just meant that there is likely a lot of information to get from the manual that a visual inspection wouldn't necessarily turn up.  If I were doing a clone I wouldn't want to rely completely on either method if I had the option of using both.

daytonalo

Just a tip , the pointy thing goes on the front , and the park bench goes on the rear . Just trying to help !!!

Aero426

The document will likely have nothing of value to build a clone or restore an existing car.    But it will have people, dates and insight into what happened.    For some of us, that's interesting.

69_500

I'm with you Doug, it is very interesting. Would I spend tha kind of money for it right now? Probably not, as I don't have that to just blow. If my wife wouldn't complain though I'd find a way to come up with it.
