So what does eveyone remember being the rage in street machines from back then. What I remember most were the raked primered 68-70 Novas, Vegas, boogie vans, and jacked up Power Wagons and Chevys with ciebie lights and roll bars...whatever happened to all of those, you hardly ever see any of those on the road anymore. Also, trans-ams ala Smokey & the Bandit and the usual assortment of Camaros and Mustangs. At least then, you were sure to see a few Mopars everyday. There always seemed to be either a Charger, Roadrunner or Challenger in traffic somewhere around you....Man, remember all those Novas though? where are they now?

Not alive in the 70's but I have a late 70's magazine called street machine. Nowadays I think there are too many Chevelles.

I was still riding my bike in the late 70's but I remember Camaro's and Chevelles were all the rage, seeing a Charger was special sighting not many around my area. 57 Chevy's, and old 40 something Mercury's dominated the car shows. I do remember when I was just a little kid on my Big Wheel, a guy across the street had a brand new 71 'Cuda plum crazy with white billboards would wash it every Saturday morning and I would sit on my Big Wheel at the end of my drive way waiting for him to get done because I loved the way it sounded when he would fire it up and let it idle for a few minutes, then back out and do a burnout. It was something I remember looking forward to every weekend and I was only 5 at the time.

Some things I'd rather not remember  :icon_smile_big: As for cars, arguing with my friends about which make was better, the wagons and hearses that were made into cool cruisers.

Yeah, it's kinda wierd how all the cars from yesteryear just seemed to disappear. Nowdays, it's even odd to see a '68 Mustang or a '70 Cramaro driving around, when back in the late 70's & early 80's, you couldn't throw a gumwrapper out your window without it landing on the hood of one.

Here's a similar thread that will take you back, with lots-o-stories... http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,5670.0.html

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

i'm way to young for this conversation... but i'm seeing the same thing going on today. I drive a mercedes from the 80s. and when my dad gave me the car 5 years ago its was because it was an old car. he couldn't sell it because no one would buy it and they were everywere on the roads. but about 2 yeas ago its like they are slowly disapearing. i might see 1 or 2 in traffic these days, i use to see 20 or more when i got the car. also, i keep an eye on the sale prices for my car. when i got it the average price was about $1500 and now you can't get one in good running condition for less the $3000. that is just crazy to me.

I was into skateboards in the 70's and my preteen years.  One thing about cars i remember is the use of air shocks to jack up the back of your car as far as you could get it.
