The Tag on RHS says PR833  6  9  82  and  C99-533  with an SS2 (below that). I bought this gear box for a spare 8 yrs ago for 200.00 from a guy in Charolette, North Carolina. His name is Lee Holman. He builds race cars.
Just wondering what car it was for and its worth nowadays. ???

The Tailshaft is roughly 17.25 " long. The Input shaft Bearing retainer is 4.575
inches in diameter. The number on the RHS bottom is PP833  6 9 82.
Pictures below show it all, including the side numbers on the front LHS Aluminum case and the part number on the Front input shaft bearing retainer !

Lee's daddy built some real race cars.   :yesnod:

I'd have to take a guess and say this is something early 1980's truck related?   Chrysler did offer an aluminum case 833, essentially a 3-speed with a fourth overdrive gear.

i thought the OD units front bearing retainer was supposed to be like 5.15 or 5.25" in diameter?

The visible casting date and the stamped date pretty much make it an '82 unit which would definitely be an OD.

The front bearing retainer should measure 5.125" so someone has cut this one down to fit an earlier bellhousing but the 4.575" dimension isn't common to any of them. Early retainers measured either 4.35" or 4.80".
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
