It appears that the asking price is $8,200.  If it's still available, it seems to be a deal.   Second gens, especially 440-4speeds, ain't cheap no mo.

What are you waiting for?  CALL!

his asking price online and what he told me in person are two different things.

True but you just told 3749 Charger freaks about the car.  Its alot more likely to sell now.

Rust will always be worse than it looks when you remove the paint.

Of course I love 68s, but seeing what lurks beyond taking that rear window out might bring me to tears...is the price negotiable?

Looks like a good project..I wish he would have least stuffed a sock or something over the manifold :yesnod: Good luck!
Earth. Even the word sounded strange to me now... unfamiliar. How long had I been gone? How long had I been back? Did it matter? I tried to find the rhythm of the world where I used to live. I followed the current. I was silent, attentive, I made a conscious effort to smile, nod, stand, and perform the millions of gestures that constitute life on earth. I studied these gestures until they became reflexes again. But I was haunted by the idea that I remembered her wrong -Solaris

Wonder why he has bidding terms at the bottom of the list? Did he try to auction it off on ebay? If he did, why didn't it sell. If you  can't hear the engine run, I would assume its junk and or needs replacing or a rebuild. The dutchman panel will need to be replaced along with the quarters. I'd say more than lower quarter's if thats rust bubbling the paint up above the rear tires. To me, its not worth $8,000.

Looks more like $4,000.

its a 4 gear too!!.............not that it matters but that half of a tailstripe really sucks!!

Mean 318

Looks real rough to me... I am thinking that car is more like 4000 maybe 5500... only because of the 440 4 speed. But that is IMO
The quarters are full of bondo, the rear valance looks toast, rear window needs work, and then you need to worry about the lower fenders and doors. The motor isn't running,no fender tag, no carb, interior needs some love, be sure to look over the floor boards real good. Good Luck either way!

Charger-Bodie

i think 8000.00 is too much but you dont buy much for less than that when it comes to 68-70 chargers these days

Did you post about this car before? Someone did I know because I've seen it before on this site.

Anyway, I paid $5,500 for my '68 383/4spd Charger about 4 years ago so $8k isn't too far off. I don't know how much the prices have gone up since then but mine was pretty much fair market value when I bought it.

As far as the body of this craigslist car, mine needed a full drivers quarter, a lower passenger quarter, a Dutchman panel, a speaker tray, an outer wheel house, some door patches and a rear valance and corners. The whole body was also tweaked and needed to make two or three visits to the frame rack before it was right and it still has some pin holes in the floor and trunk pan.

WheresMyCharger

All there, but needs everything! What is the VIN? Too bad there is no fender tag.8k seems high. Less than 5k would be a deal.
Have you seen my old '69 Charger??

8k TOOO Much! the quarters are waisted as is the front and rear Valances are gone and the rear window frame is shot, 4sp or not but that cars got a lot of sheet metal coming, not too mention the interior or the engine.

4000 TOPS and thats a butt load for a project car with no tags

But thats just me and my opinion

Now if it was real RT or matching numbers or a hemi car then thats another story

I play with cars because Jets are way too serious to be fun any more
I have so many car projects that cars are beginning to be no fun any more

I don't think $8,000 is too out of line. Look at the prices other cars in worse condition and not as cool are going for. It has the normal Charger rust, but it's a complete 4 speed car...

I always figure when buying a local car.  That is worth at least an extra $1000, because of what you are saving on travel costs.

as far as what you can offer? well i know what he paid, but i'm not sure what he will take :) i let him in on the place where he got the car

The price seems about right to me for a '68 4 speed car. It might have been a $4,000 dollar car a few years ago but not anymore. If you can get it for less then all the better.

Sure it looks rough but if that car was in my area for that price I'd buy it. There really arent many project chargers left that for the most part are complete. Looks like the biggest project with that car is rust/engine. Interrior isnt bad at all. Its 8000 now but think of what it will be worth when your done with it. But like the others said, check the frame rails and floor panels good. Try and see if he will go lower a little, but dont just walk up to him and say 4k tops right away. Let us know how the bargain goes.

Go today and buy that Charger!
Put $5500 in your left pocket, wave the cash.In your right pocket put $2500. If all negations on $ fail, give the owner what he wants and snag that Charger. :yesnod:

Well, there was one in Carlisle last weekend that was in similar shape, but a bit nicer and it ran. It sold for around 15K. I think it was originally a 318.

Personally I wouldn't pay 8K for that car, and unless I was going to make it a full out race car, I wouldn't buy any car without a fender tag or sheet. Just my  :Twocents:
