installing distributor and plug wires from scratch

Was wondering if someone could give me some directions in simple terms.  My new 440 in my 69 charger is ready to fire up.  I have to prime the oil pump and install the distributor and plug wires, and add antifreeze.   What is the best way to do this in simpliest terms?  May be a dumb question here but my engine rebuilder told me no1 was tdc right now.  How many turns of the harmonic balancer clockwise will put the no 1 piston in the same position?  Will the distributor only go in 1 way? (mopar performance).  Iam trying to prime the oil pump without losing no 1 tdc.  Iam a novice here so any help would be appreciated.
thanks in advance gentlemen.

The harmonic balancer will need to turn over twice to return to tdc.  The first time around will have the timing 180* off.  When you are priming the oil pump the crank shaft will not be moving.  Remember you will need to turn the oil pump shaft counter clockwise, have someone watch the oil pressure gauge with the key turned to the on position (if you have a electric oil gauge).

I would sequence the start up this way:
Run the spark plug wires from plug and tag each one, just to get ready for the distributor installation.
Prime the oil pump shaft counter clockwise until you get pressure.
Install the distributor and point rotor cap towards the number one cylinder.
Install distributor cap noting where the rotor cap is pointing, this should be the location of the number one plug wire.
Install the plug wires on the distributor cap, double check sequence from spark plug to cap.
Tighten the distributor just enough so that you can adjust the timing during start up.
Fill up the radiator with the coolant, but keep the radiator cap off so that you can top off the radiator while the engine warms up.
Adjust your timing (somewhere between 8 and 10* before tdc) for a smooth idle and check for leaks.
Run your engine for twenty minutes at 2000 rpms for breaking in the cam.
Shut off the engine and check your fluid levels, remember to put the radiator cap on before you turn off the engine.
Be prepared for the radiator to overflow on the first start up.  Air pockets will occur if you are not careful.

Don't be surprised if it will not start on the first crank.  Keep an eye on the gauges during the cam break in period, check for fluids leaks and watch the engine comparment for burning wires.  As far as tdc goes, check the harmonic balancer and make sure it is at 0*.  IF the engine backfires the timing will be off 180*, so you will turn the rotor on the distributor 180*.

After cam breakin celebrate with a cold one or two.

I wish I was breaking in a new engine.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?
