Hey everyone,
My 69 charger seems to have a small differential oil leak.  I have replaced the yoke and seal but it still seems to leak a very tiny bit.  What else could it be?  Does the seal take some time to "Break in"?  Any advice is appreciated.

I should add that the drip is coming from the seal behind the yoke (that I just replaced).

Did you check the housing for an imperfection?  How about the yoke?  Did you get the nut torqued to specs?  Was the nut and shaft cleaned from any rust?  The seal might have a imperfection.

good luck

Yoke and seal were brand spankin new and I checked them the best I could.  Also the hardware and nut were brand new.

I guess maybe the pumpkin housing could be bad?  Is there a seal inside the pumpkin too?

Alex, here is an exploded view.  Is it possible the seal was bent or maybe had an obstruction when it was installed.

Is the leak coming from the rubber part of the seal that surrounds the yoke or is it coming from underneath as in the metal flange that meets the chunk.  Maybe you could try changing the seal again but this time putting a thin layer of silicone on the metal outside of the seal that mates to the chunk.(meaning the part that recesses into the chunk not the outermost flange.  Does that make sense?

By the way I have the same exact tiny leak(but i neglected to change the seal when i stuffed it in there so it's my fault), LOL.  I'm gonna change my rear chunk soon anyways so it isn't bothering me too much.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Thanks for the pic.  I have replaced the seal twice.  I thought it might be a bad yoke so I replaced that yesterday (with a brand new one) as well.  It very difficult to see exactly where the leak is coming from.  Especially since its so small.  Perhaps its time for a new housing/chunk?

Mine got tiny leak also. I tried putting some sealant over it, maybe it'll work
