Ok just went outside and got the information off the fender tag.  There are 2 fender tags but the one in the front is REALLY rusted and a little bent up.  So I can't read anything on it besides an H in the lower left corner.  I did get everything off the rear tag though.  Here are the numbers so yall can decipher what I have.  I'll do my best to keep them in format.

30113      228338      056     988808

28          G11                                            6    but its sideways
G35   U   V21                    V6X
GB5        H6L3           HL2         409      262814
E68        D21             WH23      P.3A    219812

That is the best I can do tonight.  I will check all the numbers tomorrow when there is still light out.  But I am pretty sure that is all correct.  I checked the numbers 2 times.  I will do my best to get the first one coppied but it looks pretty rough.

Why am I lucky if I have 2 tags?

Some plants coded more options on the tag than others. For earlier years, a second tag usually meant the car had a lot of options. Lynch Road, coded by the letter A on your tag, didn't put many options on the tag in '73. The second tag is an inspection tag.

This is where I go to decode tags, but for some reason, the fender tag decoder isn't working for me tonight :rotz:

I think that would be April 9...  If it was an early September car, the VIN sequence number would be way lower.

Lynch Road wasn't as high a volume plant as Hamtramck, so the VIN sequence numbers ramped up fairly slowly compared to Hamtramck or even St. Louis.  Depending on the year, a 228xxx VIN sequence number might be an Nov/Dec car at Hamtramck, a February/March car at St. Louis, or a March/April car at Lynch Road.
