Jeez! I guess I didn't think 'Talladega Nights' could be so bad.

At the recommendation of my brother-in-law to my wife, and against my better judgement (the things you do for love), I rented Talladega Nights and watched it last night. All I can say is, wow! What a major waste of celluloid. For the past seven years my number one worst film of all time was 'Battlefield Earth' but it's now officially at number two.

My wife fell asleep, and she's the one that wanted to watch it. Seriously, I'd almost rather get my teeth drilled than see it again. The entire point of it could have been summed up in less than 30 minutes. And talk about stupid tangents? That's almost all it amounted to. I wonder if there was even a script or if the whole thing was ad-libbed. To say it's pathetic would be an understatement.

If you haven't seen it I highly recommend you see something better such as 'Ishtar' or "The Spice Girls.'

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

One other thing. They actually wrecked a classic Chevelle for this movie.Yea, I'm glad it wasn't a Mopar but I wouldn't have wasted a Ford Taurus on this movie.

It was OK the actual movie was kinda bad but the funny parts were very funny. Like when he stabbed himself with the knife and the ways they got it out.

That's true. I have to admit the contents of some of the tangents were funny (like several SNL skits put together) but overall it was a waste IMO.

I agree, I thought that movie was a stinker as well. I did like him in Old School, Wedding Crashers and Anchorman.

His new movie looked piss poor to me, we are going to wait for the DVD on that one.

On my suggestion then, don't watch Nacho Libre or Glitter, you might just want to jump off a bridge.  I'm a huge movie collector and I actually threw Nacho Libre in the trash at my buddies house after I made him watch it and said I don't ever want to see this disc again.   ;D

Ok , now it's a running joke and pops up in my house every now and then just to pi## me off.  Bast@#! kept it and now it haunts me.

Why is it that all of Will Ferro's movies have to put some kind of Homosexual thing into it. It's almost Nauseating. Scratch that....it was Nauseating!

I agree, That movie truely did suck.

I watched it as soon as it showed at the movies. What a fricking waste. Two guys running down the track thats about as idiotic as the kissing thing. ANYONE could make a movie compared to that joke.

Well, I guess I'm the lone voice, but I thought it was funny.  Although it didn't exactly "piss excellence" as a film, it was amusing.

I can't drive by an Applebee's without chunking now.

It's not the greatest move ever made by far... but it was a lot better the 2nd time watching in my friend's garage on dvd with some friends and a few beers.    The 1st time at the drive-in with the old lady was OK at best.
A few totally unecessary female nudity scenes would have helped my appreciation of the movie a great deal  :icon_smile_big:

The movie has tons of funny parts, but the borak french guy sort of ruined it, will farrel's nemesis should have been the guy from the dukes movie who drove the black mustang for "the drive for five", that guy was funny, "hey bo bo,"  heh,   if he was the guy going against will farrel in taladega, that movie would have been way better.

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

Good observation Seattle and I agree with you, that character really bothered me.

I wont ever rent or see a movie with Will Farell,  the only thing he is got going for him is that he just looks silly and thats it, so unless you like looking at a silly person for about 2 hours in a movie hes just a big waste period!

Earth. Even the word sounded strange to me now... unfamiliar. How long had I been gone? How long had I been back? Did it matter? I tried to find the rhythm of the world where I used to live. I liked him on SNL and in bits parts in movies but he can't hold a full-length feature together... yet.

The Will that was in the "I need more cowbell" skit rise to stardom is long gone. The same lame character time and time and time again. Even Sandler got the message to lay off....after 40 movies or so.

mikepmcs

Definitely agree with Mike on this one.  Talk about typecast....If Will doesn't break into something else very soon, he will be doomed.  Jim Carey even broke the mold and played some other characters on the more serious side.

In reality I think the success of 'Cowbell' was due more to Christopher Walken's presence in that skit rather than Ferrell's.

Agree 100%. I mentioned it as it was a Will film that was good. Probably his last good film. And he was quite annoying in it too.

He pulled it off with, "Stranger Than Fiction", IMO.

Of course Emma Thompson, Dustin Hoffman, Queen Latifah, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Tony Hale helped.  :icon_smile_big:

Hey now wicker man was ok...a little wierd, but ok.  I didn't really like Talledega Nights, but hubby saw it in Iraq and now is annoying us all with the whole---I WANNA GO FAST-- thing.  He even said that on a couple briefs over there when they asked if anyone had any questions he'd raise his hand and when they called on him he'd say I WANNA GO FAST.  After a while they would say anyone except Pauley have any questions..now that is funny.  He even got out of the humvee and started shouting and rolling on the ground (I'm on fire, help me tom cruise).  DUMB A$$.

I saw Talladega Nights in the theater and thought it was actually pretty funny.  It grew on me a lot after a few minutes.
But then I saw it again on DVD and it didn't seem nearly as good as it did the first time.

Either way, it definitely funny IN SPITE OF Will Ferrell rather than because of him.  The biggest WF moments (like running around thinking he was on fire) didn't really work.

71charger_fan

I watched it while trapped on a plane between Frankfurt and Dulles because I'd seen every other English language movie they had. The best I can say for it was that it didn't suck as much as I thought it would.
