This is for a 69 Charger with power disc brakes. Its the bellcrank pedal assy linkage.

Can anyone confirm if 1 of these 2 bushings circled is supposed to be shorter than the other?

The parts book shows 2 different #'s (an upper & lower bushing) One of them has an o-ring on it as well.

The reason for the question is because when I am trying to install the center rod into the bellcrank, the bushing is too wide & I have to bang the bushing to get it inbetween the slot. This causes the top section where the booster rod goes to to be spread out too wide. Im wondering if I have to take one of the bushings to the grinder?
These pieces were all bought separately, thats another reason for my suspicion.
Thanks in advance

I had a couple extra of these parts lying around but I only could find one sleeve/bushing.  It is like the one you have circled on the left of your picture.  If memory serves correctly, it is the middle bushing.  Anyways, it fit snug getting into place in the bracket (middle and end), but I did not have to bang it into place and it did not spread the ends open wide.  Hope this helps in your decision making.  I would grind it down so it fit snug but does not spread the ends.  My two cents.  If you ruin it I will send you my extra piece if you want it.

Those two bushings are supposed to be the same width.  The one with the o-ring in the middle iis the one that goes in the center hole of the bellcrank mechanism.  The other one goes in the top hole of the bellcrank mechanism.  The little cast rod that is rounded on one end and kind of bell shaped on the other fits in the center of the bellcrank with the rounded end placed in the bellcrank center (with the o-ring bushing inside it).  My bellcrank came off a 1970 vehicle.  I seem to recall that the bellcranks on later b-bodys were not exactly the same as the ones on 2nd generation b-bodys.  But your parts pretty much look like mine (except, obviously, one of your bushings is a little too tall).  Both of the bushings you circled will easily slide between the parallel portions of the bellcrank.  I get the idea that the o-ring was a anti-rattle component.  But I don't know that for sure.

Thanks all...thats just it, neither one of the bushings will allow the center rod to slide in there without banging it in and consequently spreading the bellcrank apart.
I think I'll just have to take one of them to the grinder....

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you but here is what i have.

It appears that the bushing is 9/16" in diameter.  and the rod that it fits into is just a shave bigger than 9/16".

Thanks Paul.  I was actually referring to the width or height of the bushing not the diameter.....I got it to work by shaving a bit off in the grinder....all is well
