YEP, its finished sorry to say. I'm curious too, how did that happen, in all my years of racing 'em, beating on 'em, even dropped a few, I've never seen that happen.

Sorry man but I agree with the others on this. I think that it's beyond repair.

yep agreed. hey at least it can be a boat anchor and "go with the car" if you ever sell it. doesn't do much good, but at least you HAVE the #'s tranny for the car. as a side note personally i don't think a #'s matching tranny adds or devalues a car all that much. i have seen plenty of guys searching for that special #'s car, and their main focus was the engine. most never even checked the tranny

holy crap! that's a bummer, and I doubt it's fixable.....how the hell did that happen??

It could be repaired but it would look like crap.

Given enough time and especially money - anything can be fixed.  You just need to find the right person that will fix it correctly.

Looks like you probably oiled down the road pretty well for the bad guys behind you...Batman. :icon_smile_big:

Keep it as a trophy & make a lamp out of it or something. ;D

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

To be honest, I think that I just over revved it when I took it out for a lil run after I put int he 4.11's,...
My cousin that was behind me swears that I shifted into Rev while goin before it exploded (he swears he saw the rev lights come on)
But idunno,.. Im still but hurt about it.
How could I go about fixing it, lets say I wanted to. I didnt think you could weld the housings..

Well, technically that housing is just aluminum, so it's easily welded...BUT getting it welded straight enough to make the guts in there not bind up is a completely different story. I don't think it's very possible to put that Humpty-Dumpty back together again.

But it would make a nice conversation piece in your living room. :icon_smile_tongue:

I have never saw that happen before..that brings a new meaning to catastrophic failure .  :o
Earth. Even the word sounded strange to me now... unfamiliar. How long had I been gone? How long had I been back? Did it matter? I tried to find the rhythm of the world where I used to live. I followed the current. I was silent, attentive, I made a conscious effort to smile, nod, stand, and perform the millions of gestures that constitute life on earth. I studied these gestures until they became reflexes again. But I was haunted by the idea that I remembered her wrong -Solaris

Agreed. If you had a small crack in could be welded (if you had the right type of welding equipment) I had a small crack in the aluminum case welded on my Saturn 5-speed trans.  But in your case,  its a torsional break in a critical  area that strength is needed, plus the alignment issues in getting that tailshaft in place, and the potential for leaks due to the length of the crack.... not good bro.  :icon_smile_sad:  Speaking of leaks...that thing must have leaked like a MOFO when it happened.

True, anything can be fixed with enuf $$$.  But I'd be hesitant to ever get on it again worrying about it coming back apart.

After looking at that, I'm so glad I had another tranny built so I could save the #'s tranny along side the motor.

Are you advocating a fraudulent act?  What if you bought a car and paid big bucks for numbers matching only to find out too late you had been taken in this way?

I did'nt take it that way...but I would definately keep the remnants of the old case, and find a different one. Warranty cases or cases with the #'s ground off, to me are non-numbers matching...However, these true "warranty cases" are another subject. If this was my investment, or if I was buying the car - I wouldn't be using the term "warranty trans" - unless I had the actual warranty repair order to back it up.

No numbers would automatically signify that it was replaced. Most people it seems are more comfortable with a warranty block vs a block with the wrong numbers so I'd think the transmissions would be the same(?). I say this because if you're getting judged by someone who is inspecting the numbers then the warranty parts are "more correct". I didn't see where he advocated stamping numbers on the trans OR telling prospective buyers that it was an original replacement trans - which would obviously be fraudulent.

That trans looks pretty much wasted to me.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Ghoste

Unless new numbers get stamped in.  But it isn't an accusation, that's why the question mark was there (just so we're clear on that part).
