It looks like Mopar Collector's Guide is getting into the frey of online auctions....hmm, I wonder if they will be successful?  I have my own opinions about eBay (high fee's), but the exposure is awesome. It takes a lot to compete with them. What could they possibly offer that would be better exposure than good old ebay?

Ghoste

If they find a way to police the scams and fraudulent players, that would be good.

TUFCAT

The magazine said their site would be running on May 1st - - hmmm, its May 2nd....and so far .....nothin'!

Yeah that would be good. Your local newspaper is where you get screwed by high prices to sell something. eBay is way cheaper.

Wait'll you turn forty, such "excursions" will be a daily event and will become hourly with each passing decade.   :icon_smile_sad:
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Yep, and throw in a few name mix-ups for good measure.  :yesnod: :flush:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Now it's May 2nd.  :D

Still coming soon I see.

If you have no vision or creative spirit, you can always fall back on the way the factory did it.

For the price of selling a car on Ebay you can't beat it with the number of people that can potentially look at it.

At least once it's up and running.  :D

They've added a new countdown timer to the website.   Countdown ends at 11:59PM May 31st.   Looks like June 1st it SHOULD BE up and runnning.

So what?

For all the crap I hear about ebay... they at least have some kind of system to protect against fraud, etc.

I'm somewhat skeptical that this MCG backed deal will end up being a den of thieves.

Hopefully, it will provide us better protection. I don't know how they will do it - - it will be interesting.

I'm all for a product that's good!!!  In order to compete with ebay, they simply must offer a better product. I have no idea if it will be subscriber based, meaning if you subscribed to the magazine, you can sell your car or parts online?

This could at least give them some sort of foundation for a legal address, credit card info,  and such. The biggest problem with ebay is how easy it is to become a seller. Anyobody can give false info online.....and then start selling. At least with MCG,  if you had to verify the address where your magazine is sent - - in order to start selling.....some crooked people may get scared off.

PS The ebay feedback system sucks.  MCG will need to improve that also.

Ghoste

Didn't one of the forums out there already offer a Mopar only auction site?

MOPARHOUND!

I hope they do well.

Ebay is a tough competitor.  Yahoo Auctions a few years ago made a big deal out of selling their 1 millionth item, now they are shutting it down:

*Speed costs money son, how fast do you want to go, and for how long?"
*"Build the biggest engine you can afford the first time."
*"We normally wouldn't use a 383 for this build, parts and labor for a 440 cost the same."

TUFCAT

Ebay Motors' biggest competition right now may be www.parts123.com which has an e-swap meet.  I guess they must be doing okay, but its not an auction format.  I wonder if auctions are not be as attractive to people anymore? who knows?

LargerCharger383

I doubt I'd make much use of the site, mopar prices go too high for my budget when there's a lot of guys that know how rare the stuff is.  I thrive more on misc. stuff I find at swap meets, tends to be a bit cheaper.  Good resource if you'd need a real specific part though.  :Twocents:
