i have had a b & m shift kit in a tranny for 6 years without a problem.  I increased the throttle pressure to get good hard shifts.  works like a champ, ask buttermilksloth or moparguy01 if you want any opinions about my setup.

How did you increase the pressure?

on the 71 and up valve body's there are two springs on the side that provide pressure to the shafts.   one spring has a hex nut that you can adjust to increase or decrease pressure.   all you have to do is tighten it up in a clockwise motion and the spring pressure is increased.   the shaft then moves with a higher speed in between shifts and subsequently your shifts hit hard. enuff to bark the gears in a 1-2nd shift while in drive.   each time it shifts, the change in my holder rattles.   its rough, but i like it and wont change it for the world.

Your B&M and the TF2 kits should both have included directions to raise line pressure.  You can overdo it too.

CFMopar

mine well chirp my 275/60/r15s if i get it just right. But I think It can be firmed up just a bit more. how can you tell the year on the tranny?

From the numbers stamped on the passenger side of the pan rail.  They may also be cast in on the bellhousing.

John_Kunkel

My photo album has info to identify the year of the transmission and there are pics of the two different line pressure adjusters (pic #80 & 81).

I agree with Runner, the cheapo "shift improver" kits are a waste of money; "tire chirping" is a very poor way to gauge transmission performance just like burnouts are a poor gauge of a car's overall performance. Reprogramming kits like the TransGo TF-2 and B&M Transpack address more of the issues that affect the transmission performance.

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

gsmopar

I've used the TransGo TF-2 and TF-3 with NO complaints.   Good product!

I know I'm reviving an old topic here but I just got a Transgo TF-2 kit and was wondering who here have installed it on their own or had a trans shop do it?

Ghoste

I think several of us have.  Are you having a problem with it?

sixty6charger

Well, I'm not having a problem yet since I haven't tried to install it yet. But I would like some help or tips on what to look out for or make it go smoother. I don't know anything about trannies so it will be a learning experience. Just want it done correctly.

Did it myself...no probs...just keep track of how you took everything off, then carefully reverse it per TransGo's directions.  Clean workspace is ESSENTIAL!

What features does the TF-2 (for example) kit come with.. Just quicker shifts..?

Will it turn my 727 valve body into a manual one..?
