Charger_Fan

At least they probably won't crash the orange '69. ;D

...maybe. :-\

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

He was here in Nashville, Tn. a few weeks ago promoting it and they gave free tickets away to the first people that showed up! He said on a morning show that this is his idea of a "Dukes" movie. It is a clean, good humored, action packed film for the whole family! Can't wait to see it myself! :yesnod:
On another note: That man does not age!!!!!  :-* :D

I saw in Ga WITH John S. and it was good.  Lots of DOH references, 69 Charger, family entertainment.  NOT a critics type movie. I enjoyed it. John

I went to the preview when he came to our theater and did autographs. I met him and got him to autograph the glovebox door of my 70. He was awesome, and even asked me about my car. He's has to be the most down to earth celebrety there is out there. He's awesome.

The movie, however, isn't that great. It's has 10 minutes of entertainment fitted into an hour and a half. I didn't really like it, but there were some good Charger scenes and races in it. I'd wait and see if John is coming to a local theater to promote it. That way you get to meet him.

We have done a few things with John in support of the movie. He really is passionate about it. I can see why some people do not like it, but I have to admire him for putting his money where his mouth is and making something for his fans.

I should also mention, John is a true Charger fan as well. I have had a few conversations with him about them. He loved them well before Dukes. At the Lee1 unveiling in Georgia, his favorite car he kept talking about was the Green '69 sunroof car (a member of this site owns it) that showed up.

bull

Sounds cool. I hadn't heard a thing about it until now.

Doesn't Moparjohn own a car that resembles that one??
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I believe that's who he's talking about. Who else drives a green sunroof 69 across the country for Dukes shows? ;)

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

moparjohn

Yep, It's my car he's talking about.  Friday night  (Nov 10th) I waited up till 1:30 am to meet/see John.  He came in at 1:45 or so, (he was staying at the same place) Supposedly he walked around my car and liked it. He had never seen a sunroof Charger.  Next day I saw him in the early am BUT he was going out to some of the filming locations and we did not get to talk much.  At the Boar's Nest (yes the real one) he said and I have on tape " that's so strange, tell you what, that is so beautiful" Well I got to get his autograph and talk briefly, but we never really got to talk Chargers.  Well maybe next time. John

JimShine

Yeah, we were laughing when you guys would drive by standing through the sunroof filming us. I may have him complimenting your car on video. We all agreed it would be cool to see regular Chargers at some of these events. They are a nice change from all the GL's.

moparjohn

Thank's Jim, I was worried John and Travis might be mad at out lil stunt but Tom got it on tape and no one got hurt. A little Hazzard if you will. I do wish I had some time to talk to him, to think a big star like him likes my car is really cool. After all the DOH got me into Chargers and that now comes full circle. And the vectors are the only GL stuff my car will see. Next car on the other hand....

JimShine

Nope, didn't mind at all. Infact John told us some story how he stood in the trunk of his Charger to get some over the roof shots.

moparjohn

Cool, the over the roof shots were one of my favorites

I forgot all about this movie, until I happened to stumble across this the other day at the video store...

I already had the two videos I went in there for, so I didn't rent it.  It seems to be getting good feedback so far on Amazon CLICK HERE, so I'll probably buy a copy soon. Has anyone seen it yet?

I just rented it last week.  It wasn't the greatest movie but it had a nice Charger that didn't get wrecked so its all good.

wasnt there a jump scene in it :scratchchin: :shruggy:

Yup.  (Look at the cover)  So there definately was a Charger wrecked for that movie.  Of course, they'll claim it was just a rusted out hulk used for just that shot and really wasn't worth much, but with all the new metal coming out, I don't buy that anymore.

That movie was worth about as much as their stunt car after the jump.  :eek2:

bull

Whew! I could barely sit through the trailer. :P

Looks like he hired every relative he could locate to make up the cast. And pretty much all the technical credits go to John Schnider... written by, edited by, directed by, financed by... etc. I wonder if he did the catering too? My brother said he saw it and the basic plot is that the main character is forced to get a legitimate job and so he starts a used car lot but fills his inventory by racing everybody for pinks in his orange '69 Dodge Charger with Vector wheels. Where have I seen a car like that before? :scratchchin:

Dave22443

Yeah, except when he races them, the car has most of its interior removed, a "fake fire" at the bottom of the windsheild and its all dressed out in primer.  When the race is over, they put the interior back in and the primer just washes off to reveal a pristine orange Charger again.

And of course, he's beating the best of the best.  High end exotic cars that if driven by any other character other then what he puts in them, would easily hand the Charger its bumper.  But of course, he never looses.   :eyes:

Any movie that is written, directed, edited and financed by the same guy, is going to end up pretty bad...99% of the time.  :Twocents:

I just thought of something else that's remarkable about that movie trailer. Did you happen to notice what great pains they took with camera angles and cuts to portray the 1980-something yellow import crashing into a ditch without actually doing it? Why were they afraid to wreck that thing but more than willing to lay a '69 Charger to waste?

my73charger

Ok, so truthfully I was just being nice before.  That movie was hard to sit through...basically it sucked.

There is a lady that compared this movie with "The Ten Commandments" and "Gone with the Wind". But I suspect she was jacked up on opiates. In my opinion, it is a rather accurate reflection of just what the majority of the Dukes fanbase craves. Simple story lines, no swearing, easy to understand, repackaged familiar product with a couple of car chases.

I bought an auto'd copy at dukesfest.  Was okay as I wasn't expecting all that much anyways.  His wife was there also and yes she is very easy on the eyes  ;)

I basically agree with JimShine's description back there.

It was rated PG and I've heard that it was one hard punch away from getting a G rating.  It's pretty much a friends-and-neighbors project more than a very polished commercial production.  Done with more resources than most homemade deals (numerous exotic cars, a helicopter, etc) but it's not up to featureTV/studio level.

I thought Schnieder did a surprisingly decent job at straddling the line between kid show and adult show.  There are some commercially-released G-rated movies out there that are much harder for a grownup to sit through than this one.  The "Barney factor" is pretty low for such a basically non-threatening show.

Back N Black

How long is John Schnieder going to ride the coat tails of DOH. Its over no more movies, time to move on.It like Rockey 5 its time to stop now!   :nana:

Mike DC

Yeah, I see your point.

But I don't think Schneider would do something like this C&C movie just trying to "ride the coattails of DOH" quite as much as it might look like.

The line between Bo Duke and John Schnieder is pretty blurry.  This C&C project is probably something the guy would be at least sorta interested in doing even if he'd never been in DOH.  He's a pretty severe car nut and family-friendly guy in real life.

DOH is responsible for the orange Charger in this movie for sure, but the whole flick is also just up his alley in general.

i love john schneider to death, but that movie was painful to sit through. i appreciate him doing what he's always wanted to do with a movie though.
