Do I need to run premium in a '69 383?  ??? reason for asking is I started hearing some new clicking/knocking noises, and don't know what else it could be.  not the lifters (hear it even when engine is warm) and other than new valve covers (which look fine and are made for the engine) I haven't changed anything else in the valvetrain.  it's a mechanical noise that's rapid and increases speed with engine rpm.

When I first got my car I heard a noise like that.  Turned out to be a loose bolt on the flex plate.  Id check all that kind of stuff just to be sure.

I doubt it is fuel realted , generally the only time you would hear pinging is under load driving not at idle
