need some help on buying a car????

Need some qquick answers if possible..............

Does anyone know what the requirements are for registering a car that has a title from Mexico.  Its a 1970 Coronet.  The car was made in America and sold in Mexico from what I am told.  What problems may arise?  Any help would be helpful. What papers do I need to make sure I have from the owner?  Or is it just too big a pain in tha ass.  The car has never been registered in the states.

I'm by no means an expert but I'd imagine about ten miles of customs red tape. Also, was it built to U.S standards? I'm sure it probably was but I've heard that some cars were built and shipped there that didn't conform to U.S safety and/or emission standards since they didn't need to be and it was cheaper not to and therefore couldn't be registered here without bringing them up to snuff.
I'm not so sure this is true and I'm not sure it even applies to that car but it's something to think about.   


I'd love to see it happen though and hear what it took. Maybe you'll find a kilo of powder or weed in it!!

You might want to post this question on Moparts. I have seen the same question in regard to buying a car from Canada posted there....and as it turned out 1 or 2 of the members there work for Customs and were able to give real good advice.
