3 Marines need your prayers

3 days ago my platoon got hit with an IED. The actions of one man saved the lives of all 3 of them. After the IED went off, it knocked the driver, gunner, and the dismount unconsious and the vehicle was on fire. A marine from the vehicle behind them ran on top of the turret, and dragged him to safety. He got the driver out of the truck, and also dragged the dismount that was near the vehicle to saftey. Then went back and got all the ammo from inside the truck out (which the rounds were cooking off, becuase the entire thing was engulfed in flames) and also got the 50 cal off the turret and thrown to the side.

He did all this, without his rifle because shrapnel from the IED cut it in 2. And while getting shot at by snipers. Several rounds were hitting the windsheild while he was getting everyone and the equipment to safety.

One Marine has 3rd degree burns over 60% of his body. Another had his leg broken in 2 places, his elbow broken, several ribs broken and 3rd degree burns. The last has severe brain damage. He can't stop shaking, doesn't remember his name, or where he is.

The Marine that saved all of their lives is being put up for the Navy Cross (2nd highest award)

Oh, and by the way.... the whole that the IED left was 25 feet long, 12 feet wide, and 6 feet deep. After it went off, it threw the humvee 30 feet from where it was, and knocked the truck in front of it and behind it back about 15 yards.

Thank you for your prayers.

That is devastating...tough to read, but really thank you for posting. It's makes it clearer to us how horrifying things are for you guys, and how lucky we are that you Marines are there protecting us from this happening to people right here in our country. God Bless you, and the injured. I know I will pray for them!

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Damn, that sucks. :'(  Thank God for the Marine who pulled them to safety, I hope they will all recover well.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)
