Been there and done that.

But still, how embarrassing. Usually what gets me into trouble is a faulty fuel gauge when first testing a vehicle.
Still looking for 15x7 Appliance slotted mags.....

QuoteI had it up to 80 on the freeway the other day and felt the rear of the car sink down a bit and the front end seemed a lot lighter

that's because the rear wing is working . it makes a lot of down force .  without a nose that's gonna happen . maybe a front spoiler will help . hey that might look good too . stiffening the back would help too .

i feel that on my tona but with the nose the whole car squats at hi speeds

Assuming the wing is something close to factory... even when positioned flat the wing will generate downforce. I ran some numbers a while back (I believe I posted them) and the wing shape generates lift to to somewhere around 4 degrees negative (but since it's upside down that equates to downforce at 4 degrees up).

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

pettybird

at 80 it's doing nearly nothing.

also, the Charger tunnel produces so much lift you're barely breaking even.

you probably   told someone this already in this thread but i didn't read all of it .so what year lincoln are you getting the rear end out of for your charger? i like the idea of a 9 inch ford disc posi under my 69 charger . how much modification is needed ? do you use the portion block from the lincoln ? and how about hooking up the e brake cables ? thanks

GeneralLeeTESH

USE a 1977-1980 Lincoln Versailles rearend. It comes stock with a Trac-Loc 9 incd and 3:00-1 Gears. The Ebrake cables are easy to hook up. You only have to move the 2 spring perches on the tube outboard 0.5" on each side (from 43 " center to center between the leaf springs to 44") ! Got the ol 78 Lincoln Versailles DB POSI 9.0" rearend modified from 43" to 44.0" spring-perch width to fit the DUKTONA. This left me 0.75" between the tyres and the springs and allowed 3.0" MORE tire in width (towards the outer wheel-well) AND there is still 4 more " to boot !

is the over all width (hub to hub)the same as the charger ? i have 14x7's don't want to change them . don't want my tires to stick under my fenders to far. thanks

GeneralLeeTESH

No the Versailles rearend is not as wide as a standard 8.75" B-body rear axle. Call Currie enterprises for info.

I am running 15"  rims with 10 " wide tires. Still have 4" room easy ! You shouldn't have a problem !

Sounds like a good rear end for an A body!
