Was the core support cut out when you got this car? Forgive me if I didn't go back to the beginning. Strange to see missing sections of the top and bottom like that.

EDIT: I got my answer (thanks Troy). So much for the custom made motor mounts and all the measuring from the previous page. :eek2:

I thought the bottom was cut too but, looking closely, I think that's just foam wrapped around it. Maybe? Cutting the top of the radiator support off used to be common to make engine swaps easier but you don't see it much any more. I know the car was a mess when it was purchased but it looks like those were intact then. :shruggy:

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Yes-the radiator support had been removed and poorly welded back in place. This is a car i bought as a rolling shell from the HLPAG boys. tHE vIN ON THE RADIATOR SUPPORT HAD its vin number GROUND-off. The Wash. STATE Patrol caught this during inspection. They noted the last number of the Vin attempted to be removed ended in a "3" and the Vin on the dash ended in a "4". The Alabama title provided to me before I took delivery of the car had a different vin on it NOT matching any of the 3 vins found on the car. The 3rd VIN was also ground off-at the left trunk lip-but the WS Patrol used acid and technique of Black light to get that vin recorded. They are letting me keep the car as Federal/States evidence for a Grand Jury case=in the mean time-they gave me a new Wash. State VIN and did not crush the car ! The car has a new Wash. vin number and the HLPAG boys are in trouble now with the State of Illinois AG/Sec of State Police for Illinois and the FBI as well as Wash. State. Stay tuned...REMEMBER THIS-The title they gave me had vin numbers which did not match those 3 different ones found on the car they sold me. The Wash. STATE Patrol seized that as part of a Federal Case/States case investigation as well as FULLY Document WHAT they found done to the car before they sold it to me! :hah:

Okay, that makes a difference. Since it was previously cut and poorly welded before you got it, I can see your rationale. Game on.  :icon_smile_wink:

The radiator support is removable and bolts back into place neatly along with its new WASH. State VIN number tag. This is quite convenient for me also ! The radiator fits in there well. No fit problems also.

The steering linkage and exhaust are all in the right place and work well. The high torque mini starter, balanced driveline and safety loop, tranny oil and dual exhaust are next; then, wiring, radiator and hoses-then run check. Then the shifter, new tranny tunnel hump go in and the seats/seatbelts, front end and hood-then I am done !

I used to be against the whole "Duketona" thing but I've had a change of opinion. I applaud you for wanting to be different. The car sure is different. Great job so far and the engine looks great. Good....Hans and his villains are finally getting what's coming to them. :D

Exhaust will be Cake. I have lots of room for that and it's already parts-kitted to fit !
Take a look at the qtr-inch clearance on the rhs @ shock tower...and 1/8" clearance @ steering knuckle !

Fun to follow this build but its KILLING me to see that trans bolted in there like that....while you had it out a bit of cast iron paint would have done wonders!

But hey thats just me!  :eek2:
