Dodge didn't make a Super Bee convertible. That would have been cool though.

I had a '68 that was cool, but I like '69's better.

whats the diff between the superbee and coronet?

whats the diff between the road runner and GTX?

"Coronet" was the model line and the Super Bee was a sub model based on the Coronet platform. The Super Bee was a mid level trim model. The standard engine was the 383 with four speed with the Hemi optional or the 440-6bbl in 70 and 71. There was a run of special option cars, the A12 cars, in spring-summer of 69. The option consisted of the 440-6bbl engine, lift off hood, Dana with 4:10 gears and black steel wheels.

The Coronet R/T was the high level trim model with the 440 standard and Hemi optional 67-70; the 440-6bbl was available in 70 only. Dodge had two intermediate size car offerings; the Coronet and Charger. The Coronet name was used for four doors in 71 while the Dodge Coronet two door line up was consolodated with the Charger nameplate laving Dodge with one line up in the intermediates. No Coronet R/Ts after 70. The 71 Super Bee was still a mid level trim while the Charger R/T was Dodge's high level trim performance car.

The same applies to the Plymouth line up for the Road Runner and GTX. RR was the lower level trim and the GTX was the high level trim. Plymouth did not have a model equivelent to the Charger.

And I'm partial to the 69's also...

That probably would come as a surprise to the Chrysler marketing folks who were selling Fury IIIs, VIPs, Monacos, and Polaras.

But, to answer the question, I'd say '71.

no car line had a model equivelent to the CHARGER!!!

The Charger was originally designed to compete in the personal luxury field with the Buick Riveara, Olds Toronado and Ford Thunderbird. It was not envisioned as Dodge's top intermediate performance car. The 67 Coronet R/T was to fullfil that roll against the Chevelles, Fairlanes, 442s and GTOs. The legendary body redesign in 68 with the addition of the R/T label catapulted the Charger over the Coronet for Dodge's top of the line performance car. Since Charger R/Ts out sold Coronet R/Ts from 68-70 and established the Charger nameplate, it only made sense to drop the Coronet R/T after 70

I like 68's and 69's best. I almost got a '68 coronet 440 (base model 318). I'm glad I didn't. My Sport Satellite was a better deal and plus, it had a big block

Let's remember the Superbird was nothing more than an option package on a Road Runner, the 69 6bbl cars were option packages on the RR and SBs. They were not new sub models of an existing car line like the 68 Super Bee or Charger R/T were. (WM and XS) It could be argued the 69 Charger 500s and Daytonas were separate sub models as the sub model VIN designation changed but they also carry A** package codes.

If so, sorry is just an opinion  :-[ ... I would call them Coronet Super bee, like Charger R/T or in fact the same Coronet R/T yes but not just Dodge "Superbee". Is simply the same car with different package.

of course I respect the Mopar call outs, but simply don't get completelly the idea.

Heres the Equivelents:

Charger XH base model = Satellite RH base model
Charger 500 XP (luxury)= Satelitte Sport RP (luxury)
Charger R/T XS (hi po 440 standard) = GTX RS (hi po 440 standard)

Or you could substitute the Belvedere for Satelitte & Roadrunner
for low budget minded Hi Po model with 383 standard, not 440.

1970 hands down., color would'nt matter much,  FY1 yellow would be high on the list though, preferably 6 pack column auto ,bench seat.
