f70X14 tires in todays talk

Orig. mine came with the F70X14 tires and now it sports 275/60/15s (out back)

I'm curious what the F70 means in terms of tire width and aspect ratio-is it 225/70/14?

I ask because orig. the car came with the 3:55 axle package and I'm trying to figure how much my 15s with the tire combo offset this and also, It was swapped out to 3:23, but I plan to return the 3:55 but am wondering, since I'm staying with 15inch wheels, what ratio should I really be running to get it close to 3:55s again??

The original tire was ~26in tall and a 215/70/14 is pretty close in diameter. the 275's are 28in tall:

3.23 x 28in = 2.99
3.55 x 28in = 3.30
3.91 x 28in = 3.63

So, to answer the question, a 3.91 with a 28in tire is slightly deeper than the stock tire with 3.55's

Wow, so I was close when I guess near a 276 rear gear with my tires.hmmm

I can get 391s easily, now those should make it seem like theres a few more ponies there when not, but more fun at lights

I am always told P205/70/14 is about a E or F tire, and a P215/70/14 is about a G or H size. That is from a long time friend who works in a tire shop.

Pretty easy to do Ryan, just basic math and plugging in the numbers ;

original tire diameter (divided by) new tire diameter (multiplied) by axle ratio (equals) new axle ratio.

Start with a 26in tire and 3.55....what's the ratio with a 28in tire ?

(26/28) x 3.55 = new ratio
.9285 x 3.55 = 3.29 (adjusted axle ratio with taller tire)


For 4.10 axle with 28in tire:

.9285 x 4.10 = 3.80

For 4.56 axle with 28in tire:

.9285 x 4.56 = 4.23
