Cody,

Actually here are a couple GTO forums if you haven't checked them out.  It's good to get the word out to as many places as you can as well as here, you never know. Good luck brother. :icon_smile_cool:

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Troy. What exactly did your talk with Cody involve? I have tried to help him in the past with non-Mopar questions but now I see it was the wrong thing to do. Like I said before. DON"T FEED HIM! (on non-Mopar topics) He's the self appointed "Google Master". The information mikepmcs gave is attainable from even a Google Apprentice.  :brickwall:

Reasonable request Brock? Maybe if it was isolated but after "what's this and that worth?" "How about this Ford question? Now this Pontiac question? Come on!

I'd like to think of it as a "Car Guy's" site even though the name says Charger. There are plenty of car topics started by many, many members that have absolutely nothing to do with Chargers and even a bunch that have nothing to do with cars at all. In the past it has been pointed out that a lot of members here also tend to like Pontiac products for whatever reason so I don't find this too unreasonable. Now, is this topic posted in the wrong section? Yes. Would Cody get more answers on a Pontiac site? Maybe, who knows, but it doesn't hurt to ask around. It is not a requirement to only like/know Chargers to be here and I'm willing to bet there's some GTO aficionados lurking (not to mention that this will get indexed by search engines and millions of people looking for GTO information will see it).

I'm frankly tired of reading topics where the first twenty responses argue the validity of the topic without providing any additional information. Perhaps it's just me...

Now see, this is very helpful information provided in a courteous manner which helps to further the discussion (or it provides the answer to a question and the thread can move off the front page). It may not have taken any longer to write than the other responses but has a much more positive effect. Crazy isn't it?

There's no reason for me to post personal conversations here on the site unless there is a valid/legal reason to do so. Let's just say they went better than any correspondence I've had with you regarding your posts. ;)

Here's an idea, stop reading/responding to threads started by Cody if they upset you. By posting you just keep them around longer.

The more GTO boards you can get the info on will help,  and don't forget Firebird and Trans Am, after all, we are Mopar guys and a lot of us own more than JUST Chargers. I've owned Challengers, Road Runners, 67 Coronet R/T , 67 Dart GT and probably stuff I forgot about.

Most true car guys tend to be the same way.

I don't know why some people get so bent about somebody making a post here EVERY TIME they make a post.

Are there any MEN left that own these cars, or just whiny little boys?

Remember, at one time, everybody here has asked a question that somebody probably thought was dumb, it comes with the terrirory!

At least the kid is into Muscle cars and Rock and roll music, not hondas and toyotas with loud paint jobs and obnoxious rap music.

It is rare to find a teenage kid anymore that even KNOWS WHAT a Dodge Charger is and even more rare to find one that knows a little bit about em and has an appreciation for them.

When I was 17, I bought my first 69 Charger R/T , and I knew absolutely NOTHING about em. I've learned what I have by trial and error. I do know I'd love to own another one now! Wish I'd known then what I know now.

So OK not exactly word for word but did it involve what section to post off topic questions to? I hardly ever venture from General Discussion so this topic posted elsewhere would go unnoticed at least by me.

Your correspondence with me to my knowledge totaled one (1). If there were more please kindly forward them to me. That correspondence from you ended with and I quote, "Feel free to express your opinion". Did you mean in reply to your letter or on the message boards?

Your right about making Cody's posts stay around longer than they would have and to that end I will not reply to any of his posts again even if I am the only person on the planet that holds the answer to his question.

Since non Charger, Mopar, (kinda) questions are allowed I have one. But I'll put it where it belongs. In the Lighter Side section.

TruckDriver

I agree with Troy. If this is only a Mopar site, then should we have posts about...

Daily Drivers
Battlestar Gallactica
Semi trucks
Non Mopars of any kind

Besides, it was posted in the Off Topic section. Which, as Troy says "This section is for Non Auto related topics." We sure post enough about cars and trucks in this section as it is. Maybe they should all be deleted too ::)

If you look on the home page, there really is no one section just dedicated to Chargers, little alone Mopars. The General Topic area says "This is the place for general Automotive Discussion and, for now, a place to discuss the new forum."

Although, Troy, I think it is safe to remove "and, for now, a place to discuss the new forum." ;)

With regards to ignoring some users posts - it's not difficult!   :yesnod:

Think of looking at the sections like reading the TV guide.  If there is something listed in the TV guide that is of no interest to you, don't watch it.

Pretty simple eh!

Troy

TripleBlackGator: correspondence (cor·re·spond·ence): communication by exchange of letters.
That's the correct word and no, you got all that I sent. Cody's response went like "I'll try" and yours was "you can ban me from posting on this site". It's all about effort I suppose. If I recall correctly, our conversation actually had more to do with your lack of respect for others (especially the moderators) and the fact that you posted something explicitly prohibited in the terms of service (which you agreed to but admitted to never reading). Being annoying is slightly less of a problem than blatantly ignoring the code of conduct and disrespecting the people whose main goal is to provide a healthy environment for the community. You have every right to express your opinion anywhere you please just as I have the right to remove it from my site (see the TOS). If I have to waste a lot of time removing stuff from my site then I'll eliminate the source to save myself some grief. It'd be much simpler if people would use a bit of common sense, respect, and decency before typing.

Wi. Charger Guy: Actually, it was in General Discussion - I moved it but I hate cluttering the site with "Moved..." threads. If I weren't so busy babysitting adults and fighting spammers I'd have more time to update the site and rearrange a few things.

It really sucks that all these people are still jumping down Codys throat every time he makes a post.  Hes a kid thats into Mopars (whats wrong with that?!?) and as soon as he makes a post these guys jump in and put him down and say that his post should be locked.   My brother is about the same age and registered on the site, he reads it from time to time, but he has only posted a couple times.  I wonder why.   ::)

For what its worth, I see nothing wrong with this thread either.  I wish I had my dads old '67 GTO but theres no chance of that ever happening, its been long gone since before I was even born.  Good luck with the search.

Old Moparz

Seems like a legit question to me as well.

If your dad's GTO was a lowrider, you could post it in the "Ask The Mexican" thread. :D

good luck finding it

:haha: I'm sure this guy is happier than anyone that Cody is here.

Anyway, I'm surprised how much attention Cody gets, albeit negative. I've given him a hard time here and there but there came a time a while ago where I decided just to ignore his stuff if I considered it foolish or juvenile. It seemd like other people would too for a while but then someone would start in on him and it would snowball into a three-page bashfest over something very inconsequential. When anyone else does that here the thread gets like two replies and then goes away. Now I actually find myself hoping that his threads will go off the front page so he doesn't get nailed but it seems like no matter what he says he gets nailed anymore. Too many people have a knee-jerk reaction now when they see a post by Cody and they only look at it to see what they can find wrong or annoying and draw attention to it. Just let it go and it will go away.

I agree.

Cody's a 14 year old who acts like a 14 year old. :yesnod: Sadly there are some 20 & 30 and 40 year olds here who act like they're 14 on this site. :rotz:

Lets cut the kid some slack and just be glad he's into old Mopars and not 'ricin' out his Honda or whatever. ::)

Just think of it this way, Cody asked a CAR question! Who better to ask that this forum as there are more people who go to car shows around the world than right here?

I wish you luck on finding it Cody. I would suggest also asking someone from http://mapleleafmopars.homestead.com/ if someone has an address to write to the Vancouver car clubs. They would be allot more help as well since I'm sure they know of every old car in the area. There is also the Greater Vancouver BC Classic Cars and related directory located here http://www.gvrd.com/classics/index.html that might give you some places to ask as well as the Vintage Car Club of Canada to which I used to be a member located here http://www.vccc.com/ since they are all over Canada. One last place would be to post a classifieds add in Canadian Classics and Performance Magazine asking if anyone knows about your dad's car. In fact their issue out right now is about GTO's infact and has one on the cover. You can find their website located here http://www.canadianclassicsmag.com/ hope this helps you find the car!

I have thought about this a little, As I said before, when I was 17 I bought my first Mopar, a 69 Charger R/T. If there had beena  board like this when I bought my car, I don't know if I would have stuck with it or thought most of the people who owned them were jerks.

It's sad that a kid that WANTS TO LEARN about these cars gets his head knocked off everytime he posts. I'd hate to think that a bunch of hateful people caused what seems to be a good kid to turn off to Mopar all togetner because they had to act like whiny little babies.

If it bothers you that bad, when you see his posts, don't open them, it's not hard and your life will be SO MUCH easier. Do you really have that much of an ax to grind with a 15 year old kid who just wnats to learn about Chargers?

MorePwr

Here's another link to a Pontiac club in BC. http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/1932/ I'd post your story over there. I would guess.. because of your age they'll probably go the extra mile to help you find it. they don't know you like we do ;)  Just kidding Cody. I personally appreciate the non Charger topics........That's why I open them :scratchchin:

I've got some friends here in Seattle that run a GTO club. unfortunately I can't remember the name of it. I'll have to talk to them when I get back to work. funny thing is. his goat looks the same as yours, less the wheels. huh, wouldn't that be incredibly lucky!  Good luck Man.

It would help if you knew the VIN number of the car, then you could just do a search for the new owner!
