member 69_500 who posts mostly in the Aero Car section sold a 69 Sunroof car awhile back. he would be the expert to talk to.

Personally i would keep the Chally Ragtop.  Nothing like having the top down in the summer.  My dad has a 73 Road Runner and a 67 GTO ragtop.  the GTO gets driven everytime and the Road runner sits..

I think that if you would clone the Challenger vert into an R/T Hemi vert it would be give a higher return on investment as opposed to the Charger. I know that sunroof Chargers are rare but I doubt they will bring 10 grand more than the same Charger without one... It depends how much you are willing to invest or have to invest, the Charger will most definitly be an easier and cheaper one to fix, the Challenger will take more money to complete but will also sell for a lot more... It's your call I guess. If I had the money I would clone the Challenger into a 70 Hemi Challenger R/T convertible, sell it and buy a completed Charger.

You want to know something sick? I passed on a /6 '70 Challenger convertible in good shape but with no engine 10 years ago for $1,800. :brickwall:

I can't quite remember the exact numbers but for some reason I think there were only 396 69 Chargers made with the sunroof.  Go for the sunroof Charger.  I agree that the fully restored Challenger would bring a little more than the Charger but your time and effort and money restoring it would be more as well - might be a wash.  Besides the Charger is a much better car  ;)

FWIW for 69 there were only 391 total sunroof cars built for 69.

Currently there is likely a 1 of 1 combination RT/SE sunroof Charger in F6 green on ebay....its been on there no less than 5 times.  the seller has a reserve of 50-60k in its current condition.

Currently out of the 15 sunroof cars I have in the registry 8 of them are 383 cars (5- 4bbl & 3- 2bbl cars)  I have 1- 318 car & 6 R/T models

One gauge of worth is documentation as well...does it have the fender tag?  The broadcast sheet?

A roller with no interior I would hazzard a guess of no more than 10k

PLEASE get the tag info & register the car as well

So Chris the sunroof 69 that I sold is the only 318 sunroof Charger you have any information on?

I know of another T7 bronze 318 SE sunroof charger that is local to here in Indianapolis as well, I'll see about getting you the information on that one.

I would vote to hang onto the Challenger convertible, those are probably more desireable than a sunroof Charger. If your really interested in a sunroof charger PM me, and I'll put you in contact with a gentleman who knows where 2 sunroof Chargers are that are both for sale currently. One of them is the 318 car I sold, the other is a 383 car.

Any ideas of what the price difference would be between the 2 as-is? The rotted challenger convert or 69 sunroof solid roller?

Gee, I think you should get the Charger, it is amazing to be driving one with "a hole in the roof" and I didn't know they exsisted utill I bought one! Danny, what do you know about the 383 one- PM me! John
Happiness is having a hole in your roof!

Personally I would take the Charger.

1- Big hole in the roof.  ;D

2- 'vert with "rotted" in the description.  :o

I'll send ya a PM with more information when I get it John on the 383 car. I don't track down sunroof cars too much anymore. Mainly stick to tracking down 500's now. Well and Daytona's :)
