how to test a motor?

Three parts:

1. I need to test a blower motor (heater/AC) for my brother's 72 Camamro. Can I hook it up directly to a car battery or battery charger (2A or lowest setting)?

2. What about hidaway headlight motors; can I do the same to test them in a junk yard in either way?

3. is there a way to rebuild a Charger's hidaway headlight motor? if not any place to send it to to be rebuilt (cost if you have it please)?

OK I just hooked my brother's Camaro blower motors up tp a car battery, and they ran without frying. I guess I could give my headlight motor a shot.

Id like to know which wires get hooked to positive and negative on a headlight motor too.  Theres 2 wires coming out and a terminal.  Im assuming the 2 wires are hot (open and close) and the terminal is ground?

"DON"T TEST YOUR HIDDEN HEADLIGHT MOTOR WITHOUT IT BEING ATTACHED"

That is according to the '71 factory service manual. It will damage your motor.

I rebuilt mine. I had two laying around, neither worked. By combining parts I made one that does work. The plastic gear inside was stripped out.

You can probably test it when removed from the car by turning the wheel at the bottom, in the proper direction, and seeing if the bushing where the headlight door rod goes through turns. Don't turn it too far, though!

Just my advice.

There are two terminals on the headlight motor. One is a two wire plug -- connects the headlight motor to the headlight harness. The other is a ground terminal, attaches under one of the screws on the headlight motor.

Mines installed, and I can open and close them manually with the knob.  But when I grounded the terminal to a ground screw and hooked the other to a power source, nothing happens.   :scratchchin:
